Mzansi 28th Match Squad Comparison

Jozi Stars

Dane Vilas would have liked to come to this match with a win against Paarl Rocks but that was not to be in a thrilling encounter that they lost in the last over. But having already qualified for the playoffs it is a good opportunity for the side to test their bench strength. They have played well as a unit so far where batting and bowling has both worked for them. With only one game to go before the all-important Eliminator game Vilas would want to go into that game with supreme confidence. He would be wary of the fact that his side lost to Spartans in the previous game and would like to win it in the next game.
Chris Gayle’s form is bit of a bother for the side at the moment as he has failed to offer the kind of start that is expected of him. Reeza Hendricks has looked rock solid at the other end. It is the duo or Rassie van der Dussen and Vilas that add strength to the side in the middle overs. With the likes of Petrus van Biljon and Daniel Christian lower down the order the batting line-up packs the much required punch. The bowling attack is as strong as the batting unit with Kagiso Rabada leading the attack with in form Duanne Olivier. Daniel Christian along with Simon Harmer bowled well so far and they would like to keep up with the form in the next game.

Tshwane Spartans

It has been a forgettable tournament for AB de Villiers and his boys. Despite of having one of the most talented sides they find themselves in the bottom half of the table. While they have shown good form in the last couple of games against Paarl Rocks and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants winning those comprehensively they are out of contention for the playoffs. The team now has only pride to play for and knowing the character that AB is he would look to inspire his men in the upcoming game and finish the tournament with some positives.
Wicketkeeper Gihahn Cloete has batted well in the opening slot though his partner Andrea Agathangelou. In the middle order Dean Elgar, de Villiers and Eoin Morgan make it one of the strongest batting line-ups in the tournament. But most of these players have failed to capitalize on their starts. In terms of their bowling department Rory Kleinveldt and Lutho Sipamla have bowled well on odd occasions but it has only been Jeevan Mendis with consistent performance throughout the tournament. It is here that the side has failed in tight games. In the upcoming game he would need good support from others to win it.
