Our Prediction: Afghanistan will win this game

The contest between two emerging sides is always followed with much interest in the world of cricket. While they may fail against the best sides in the world there are always great contest when such sides take on each other. Afghanistan side is regularly punching above its weight and have impressed fans and critiques around the world with their recent performances. The Irish side which recently earned Test Status has also been consistently performing at the top level. With the first two T20is having been one-sided contests the Irish side would look to give their fans something to cheer about in the next game.

It is nothing short of miracle to see the growth of cricket in Afghanistan. Coming from a war-torn nation that is always in the news for bad reasons the national cricket team is offering people lot to cheer about. Few expected this tour to Ireland to be one-sided but in the two games so far a clinical Afghan side have bulldozed over their opponents in conditions alien to them. In the rain curtailed first game they won by 18 runs despite suffering a batting collapse in the middle order. In the next game they demolished the hosts by 81 runs bowling them out for mere 79 runs.

In the batting department 20 year old Hazratullah Zazai has been a find for the side with scores of 74 and 82 in the two games. Skipper Asghar Afghan has batted well and so has flamboyant wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad. But Asghar would be worried about the fact that beyond the three of them no other batsmen done anything spectacular. Mohammad Nabi has failed with the bat which would worry the side. In the bowling department it has been great to see the spinners in these conditions. Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are making the batsmen dance on the crease and picked up 12 wickets between them. Nabi has also looked impressive bowling economical spells.

They and no pushovers in International cricket and they have proved this on multiple occasions. Wicketkeeper Gary Wilson led side was expected to put up a good show against the visitors in their home conditions but the two games so far have raised more questions about the temperament of the team. More than the loss it has been their application during the games that would worry the skipper. In both the departments of batting and bowling they have looked inferior to the visitors and find themselves staring at a 3-0 whitewash going into the third game.

The Ireland batting is in complete disarray and in both the games their batsmen have put up woeful display. Paul Stirling, Gary Wilson, Simi Singh and George Dockrell reached double figures in the first game while William Porterfield and Wilson managed to so in the second. Kevin O Brien and opener Stuart Thompson’s performances with the bat is hurting the side. In the bowling department George Dockrell, Joshua Little and Simi Singh have impressed a bit but at no stage did they look threatening for the visiting side. Their military medium pace is doing little to prevent the Afghanistan top order from scoring freely.

Going by the performances in the first two games Ireland seems to have no script to take on the Afghanistan side and if the form persists into the third game we expect Afghanistan side to win the series 3-0
