Squad Comparison

India’s test match squad looks solid with a perfect balance between experience and youth. Rishabh Pant has made it to the squad along with Wriddhiman Saha and Lokesh Rahul. India has gone with 2 bowling all-rounders – R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and 1 batting all-rounder – Hanuma Vihari. Vihari had god stats playing in his last test series and will likely be impactful in the middle order if given a chance against the Windies. With big names like Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara along with the Kohli and Sharma, whether Mayank Agarwal gets a spot in the playing XI is uncertain.

4 pace bowlers have made it to the Test squad for India including Test specialists Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. Left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is likely to be included in the playing XI and will play an important role as the pitch gets older. While Shami and Bumrah will enjoy bowling with the new ball and get the Windies top order back in the hut as early as possible. Overall, India has a lot of options in every department and will be confident going into this match.

West Indies

After losing the ODI series to India, Windies would look to bounce back in the Test series. All eyes will be on Shai Hope and Darren Bravo in the batting department to lay a strong foundation at the top in the 1st innings. Skipper Jason Holder has been in good form and has included bowling all-rounders Roston Chase and Keemo Paul in the squad. Kemar Roach will be lead the bowling attack and will be expected to pick early wickets.

John Campbell and Shimron Hetmyer are other two limited-overs batsmen who’ve made to the Test squad. It will be interesting to see how Hetmyer adapts to the longer format against a formidable Indian bowling attack. Kraigg Brathwaite and Shamarh Brooks will lead the batting order at the top. Brooks is a solid top-order batsman and a decent leg-break bowler, while Kraigg has a good batting technique. The onus of scoring runs will be on these two and Darren Bravo and if they fail to put impressive scores on the board, Windies would be struggling to save face in this test match.

Our Prediction for India vs West Indies

India would win this match

India has a stronger side in terms of batting, and bowling. With the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma leading the batting department, and the experienced Rahane and Pujara in the middle, India looks much stronger than West Indies. The betting sites will have India as favourites to win right from day 1 of the Test match and will likely have the betting odds favour India for a longer time period in the Test match.
