West Indies

The aggressive and passionate individual that Virat Kohli is, he wouldn’t be happy with the way his boys performed in the last game. Though the opposition put up a huge score on the board Indians were well in control till a batting collapse in the middle cost them the match. The over enthusiasm of some players to force the scoring rate up would have upset the skipper. Even the bowlers didn’t fare well and failed to deliver in the death overs allowing the West Indian middle order to take the game away. With no room for failure left in the series the skipper would expect his men to bring out their best game and win the 4th ODI.

Indian batting seems to be a story of Kohli and ten others. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have played well in one game each but Kohli has been sensational at No. 3 scoring three hundreds in as many games. Ambati Raydu is doing well at No. 4 but beyond that India seem to have a huge problem with the likes of Dhoni and Rishab Pant failing with the bat. The return of Jasprit Bumrah did add strength to the bowling but Bhubaneswar Kumar seems to be out of rhythm. Khaleel Ahmed hasn’t added to his reputation and both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal haven’t been able to run through the West Indian batting order. The bowlers will need to improve their performance as the West Indian batsmen seem to be in a murderous mood.

West Indies

Jason Holder would have surely cherished the win in Pune. What would have made him extremely happy is the fact that it was a complete team effort that earned them the game. Having tied the 2nd game and won the last one the West Indian skipper would know that momentum is with his side and they have instilled fear in the Indian camp. The batsmen are putting up big scores on the board with important contributions coming from the middle and lower order. Holder would hope his side maintains the same momentum having smelled blood and win the upcoming game and prevent India from winning this home series.

If the batting was a sorry tale in the Test series it has come good in the ODIs. Though openers Chandrapaul Hemraj and Kieran Powell haven’t added feathers to their crown they have given the team decent start in all the games. Youngster Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope are in brilliant form and troubling the Indian bowlers. Marlon Samuels is the odd man out having failed in all the games but with the likes of Holder and Ashley Nurse in the lower order they have a great batting unit. Their bowling finally impressed in the last game with Kemar Roach’s return to form and Holder bowling well. Ashley Nurse and Samuels made good use of the conditions in the last game and together they form a good bowling unit.

Indians would definitely start as favourites to win the 4th game given better understanding of the conditions but the West Indian side won’t make it easy for them.

Our Prediction for India vs West Indies 4th ODI

India shall win the 4th ODI

The 5-Match ODI series between India and West Indies is nicely poised with the teams having won a game each and ended on a tie in the 2nd ODI. Few would have expected this score line at the end of the 3rd ODI given India’s performance at home over the last two years and the manner in which they dismantled the West Indian side in the two Test matches. But the Caribbean batting has shown incredible improvement in the ODIs and rekindling the magic of the yesteryears. It is the Indians who would be nervous going into to the 4th game at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. We shall have a close match on our hands something the crowds would love to see.
