West Indies

It was a near perfect day for the Indians in Guwahati apart from their bowling which allowed the West Indian side to put up an imposing score even after picking up the first four wickets with the score little above 100 runs. But Virat Kohli wasn’t harsh on his bowlers who had to bowl on a wonderful batting surface in a small ground. But the captain would have been impressed with the way the side chased down the target of 323 with nearly 8 overs to spare. They didn’t allow the West Indian bowling to settle in and maintained a healthy run-rate throughout the course of the game. The skipper would hope his side continues with the same form and takes 2-0 lead in the series.

Indians are the best batting side in the world and they displayed the fireworks in the last game. Opener Shikhar Dhawan missed out but Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made brilliant hundreds to seal the game for the side. Ambati Raydu did impress and finished the game with Rohit at the other end. With the likes of MS Dhoni, Rishab Pant and Ravindra Jadeja they have great batsman in the finisher’s role. The Indians bowled well in gaps with Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami bowling good opening spell though they went for runs in the latter half. Yuzvendra Chahal was the standout bowler and in company of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja will look to trouble the West Indian side in the next game.

West Indies

There were few who would have expected the West Indians to pose such a huge score after their disastrous performance in the Test Matches. But the side hung in well and scored freely even when they were losing wickets. Youngster Shimron Hetmyer played an exceptional knock of 106 of just 78 balls reminding spectators of the good old days of West Indian cricket. Skipper Jason Holder would be unhappy with their efforts while bowling and hope his bowlers bowl well in the next game and contain the strong Indian Top 3. Their inability to see the back of Kohli and Rohit cost them the game.

West Indian batting didn’t have the best starts with Chandrapaul Hemraj failing but his senior opening partner Kieran Powell played well for his 50. But it was Shimron Hetmyer who along with Shai Hope and Holder helped West Indies go past 300. With Marlon Samuels and Rovman Powell in the batting order they have the firepower to pose high scores and the skipper would hope for that in the next game. Bowling wise it was a disappointing day for the side with Kemar Roach, Oshane Thomas, Ashley Nurse and Devendra Bishoo going for runs and it was only Holder who bowled well in the game and he would hope that others are up to the task in the next game.

Indians are in great form and shall start as favourites to win the 2nd ODI after their empathic win in the 1st ODI. West Indies have to show lot of character and courage to win the next game.

Our Prediction for India vs West Indies, 2nd ODI

India shall win the 2nd ODI

The first ODI of the five-match series showed that the West Indian side are a different lot when it comes to white-ball cricket. While in the end the Indian side won the game comprehensively making the huge total look easy to chase Jason Holder and his team walked from the park with their heads held high. It was swashbuckling display of batting from both the sides with close to 650 runs being scored in the game. The West Indies batted well but were let down by their bowling. With the action now moving to the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam the visitors would hope to win their first game of the tour while the Indians would be hoping to keep their winning streak going.
