ICC World Cup Match 22 Squad Comparison

Virat Kohli was upset with rain playing spoilsport in their last game against New Zealand. After the confident win over Australia the team would have definitely liked one more win under its belt before taking on archrivals Pakistan. Kohli would be extremely happy with the kind of cricket that the side has played in the two games they have won. The biggest names have delivered and they look a well-gelled unit at the moment. Kohli would know that pressure would be in the Pakistani camp due to their poor World Cup record against India and the Indian skipper would be looking to exploit this to his advantage.

Rohit Sharma would have additional responsibility on his shoulders with Shikhar Dhawan out with an injury after scoring that hundred in the last game. KL Rahul who has looked good is likely to step into opener’s role. The middle order looks strong for the side with Virat Kohli being in good form and Vijay Shankar likely to come in. India has three good finishers in MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya. Bowlers have done the job well so far with Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar looking in good form. The spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are troubling batsmen as well and look to do the same in this high-voltage contest.

Sarfaraz Ahmed would be looking to defy history and go where no Pakistani captain has gone and win a game against India at the World Cup. But his side’s form doesn’t inspire much confidence. In the last game against Australia they wasted an opportunity to win always letting the momentum slip out of their hands. Apart from the win against England the side doesn’t have anything to boast about so far in the tournament. Sarfaraz would know that there would be immense pressure on the side to win the next game and keep their hopes alive for a place in the semi-finals.

In terms of their batting performance Imam-ul-Haq looks in good form and Fakhar Zaman has been getting starts in the tournament. It is the middle order where Pakistanis are doing well with Babar Azam along with Mohammad Hafeez and Sarfaraz Ahmed all having been among the runs. In Sohaib Malik and Hasan Ali and Wahab Riaz they have good finishers and would be looking to challenge the Indian bowling attack. Mohammad Amir’s form would inspire confidence in the bowling attack and his record against India has been impressive. Shaheen Afridi and Wahab Riaz have to do well with the new ball and Hasan Ali towards the death for the side to win the game. Hafeez and Malik would need to use their experience in the middle overs for the side to win.

Our Prediction for India vs Pakistan

India will win the game

The biggest game of 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup is here as arch-rivals India will take on Pakistan at Old Trafford, Manchester. India has had a remarkable record of never having lost to Pakistan in a World Cup game and had won the game in the 1999 edition at the same venue. The kind of form the side is in at the moment they look set to take on the Pakistani challenge. Pakistan has had its own ups and downs in the tournament and would be looking to win this game which will surely give it the much needed boost for the rest of the tournament.

Pakistan has always been an unpredictable team and they have played that way so far in the tournament. Indians have been steady so far and would start as favourites to win this game.
