Prediction Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Trinbago Knight Riders
Trinbago Knight Riders look favourites to win the title
After 33 games some of which have seen nail-biting finishes we have the two best teams in the finals of 2018 Caribbean Premier League. Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders have both come up with impressive performances in the season and are one game away from the title win. TKR are the reigning champions and would like to hold on to it. If they win this would be their third title in as many appearances in the finals. Guyana Amazon Warriors who have made it to three finals so far have faltered in the last step. They would like to make amends and not like to throw it away this time. The pressure, expectations and spirits would be most intense in this game as Brian Lara Stadium would come alive in what is expected to be cracker of a contest.
Trinbago Knight Riders
The Dwayne Bravo led side looked little edgy at the start of the season where they lost two out of their first three games. But once they got the team composition right it has been no looking back for them as they convincingly qualified for the play-offs standing second only to the Warriors winning six out of their ten games. They won the first game in the league versus Warriors convincingly and lost the second one by 6 wickets. The team had a bad day against the same side in the first qualifier but have made it to the finals defeating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots convincingly. The team has played liked reigning champions and wouldn’t let the title slip off their hands easily.
Colin Ingram and Brendon McCullum give the much needed firepower to the batting line-up at the top. With 499 runs so far Colin Munro has been the most consistent batsmen for the side and this makes an impressive Top 3. Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin has showed great batting form through this season and then you have the Bravos – Darren and Dwayne who have perfected the art of finishing an innings. In the bowling setup the skipper would rest his hope on Fawad Ahmed, Ali Khan and Sunil Narine apart from his own bowling. Kevon Cooper also showed his ability on big occasions in the last game. With a well-balanced side full of match winners Dwayne Bravo would go into this game full of confidence.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
For Guyana Amazon Warriors who have qualified for their 4th final appearance in 6 years the team and its fans would hope to see them win their first title. They have been the perfect example of ‘so near yet so far’ in the tournament’s history. They topped the group stages with seven wins in ten games and also humbled Knight Riders in the first qualifier. But the absence of regular skipper Sohaib Malik who is playing for his national side will be a huge loss ahead of the finals. Chris Green who hasn’t had a great season personally has big shoes to fill but with the side having gelled well as a unit he would hope to overcome the jinx that the side has so far had with the final game in this tournament.
Luke Ronchi hasn’t had the best of season as an opener and with Cameron Delport too failed in that position in the last game. But Shimron Hetmyer has had a dream season and is the mainstay of their batting and with Jason Mohammad who has impressed they would be expected to offer play their part well in the all-important game. Chadwick Walton who was brought lower down the order will hope to deliver the goods in this important game in a season where he has failed so far. Bowling attack looks strong for the Warriors with both Sohail Tanvir and Imran Tahir having had an impressive show. Skipper Chris Green in company of Rayad Emrit would lend the much needed variety to the attack. Green would hope that his side repeats some of the magical performances they have put up this season one more time.
Both the teams pack the punch to win the title and look in great form but Trinbago Knight Riders with its appetite for great performances in the finals are favourites to win this contest over Guyana Amazon Warriors who have failed on three occasions in the past.
