World Cup Match 12 Squad Comparison

Eoin Morgan’s side suffered what can be termed as a shock defeat in the last game against the Pakistanis. Having dominated them over the last month few would have given the Pakistanis any chance but England fell short by 14 runs chasing that big total. But even in the defeat the English side could hold their heads high given the kind of spirited efforts they put in while chasing the big score. Morgan would know the importance of a win in the next game in the larger context of the tournament before they play the big sides and would want his team to win this one and regain their confidence.

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow, England’s openers haven’t been able to give the kind of starts the side would expect from them and they would look to make a statement in this game. The middle order for the side is arguably the best with Joe Root, Eoin Morgan and Ben Stokes being in great form. The presence of Jos Buttler towards the end along with Moeen Ali makes batting very strong and they would definitely test the Bangladeshis. England’s bowlers haven’t been the best so far Moeen Ali and Mark Wood have looked good but Chris Woakes is still not in his prime best. Over reliance on Jofra Archer can hurt the team’s chances and Morgan would want his bowlers to take more responsibility going into this game.

Mashrafe Mortaza’s side went down against New Zealand though they fought hard in the game. This Bangladeshi side is different from what we have seen over the last many years and they are willing to fight it out in the middle. The performance of their middle order cost them the last game after the team has been in a comfortable position during the middle stage batting first.  Mortaza would be aware of the fact that England would be a tougher opponent in the next game but he would like his boys to come out all guns blazing and put up a good show in the middle against the tournament favorites.

Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar have played well so far in the tournament and they would look forward to setting the right platform. Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim are in good form in the middle which adds to the side’s strength. Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin have good hitting abilities and they would need to score well. They have bowled superbly so far in the tournament with Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan being in good form. The side would need better bowling efforts from Mortaza and Mustafizur Rahman with the new ball to challenge the strong batting line-up that England has.

Our Prediction for England vs Bangladesh

England will win the game

After suffering what many would believe to be a shock defeat against Pakistan hosts England would head out to Sophia Gardens, Cardiff to regain their ‘favourites’ tag as they lock horns against Bangladesh in the next game of ICC Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh also come into this game after suffering a defeat against New Zealand in their last game but the Asian side has shown great promise in the games it has played so far in the tournament. England would be looking to go all out and win this game comprehensively but Bangladeshis aren’t going to give them a walkover for sure.
England has a very powerful batting line-up and this might just be the difference between the two sides and makes the hosts favourites to win this game.
