Both sides need to get back on the winning trial after less than satisfactory results last time out in the Premier League with Chelsea’s Frank Lampard eager not to slip up at home against side viewed as weaker opposition.
Chelsea are the big favourites coming into this game with online betting sites and its not hard to see why as the Blues have won the last ten meetings in a row across all competitions against the Seagulls. That is a run that stretches all the way back to 1967 and to make matters worse for Graham Potters men, of those eight games, they have only managed to score in two of them. That is why Chelsea to win to nil is a smart way to go with popular sportsbooks.
CHELSEA TO WIN TO NIL
The Blues may have only netted once against Liverpool last weekend, but with Tammy Abraham in their ranks, the Blues possess a striker on hot form. Lampard’s side have also netted eight goals in their last two Premier League games against sides in the bottom half swaying us to a fairly comfortable Chelsea win. Over 2.7 goals in the game is a good way to go with the Blues bagging a minimum of three.
OVER 2.7 GOALS
Frank Lampard’s outfit have been fairly quick out of the blocks this season (even if it hasn’t always resulted in the three points). Eight of the Blues 12 goals this season have come in the opening 45 minutes which perhaps goes to show that at times they can take their eye off the ball. However, as we feel Brighton will draw a blank, the only way to go in this one is to back the first half to be the highest scoring half of the game.
HIGHEST SCORING HALF – FIRST HALF
Head to Head
Chelsea’s dominance over Brighton in the Premier League is total. In four meetings Chelsea have won the lot including a 3-0 victory the last time they hosted the Seagulls back in April. In fact, Brighton have only ever beaten the Blues once, back during a 1933 FA Cup tie. Overall, Chelsea have recorded 10 wins over the Seagulls with Brighton winning just once and drawing once.
Chelsea to win by 2 or more goals
Brighton have never been big goal scorers in the Premier League and this season is no exception. In fact, the Seagulls have scored just five times this campaign (only Watford and Newcastle have scored fewer) but four of those came in the opening two games of the season. By contrast, Chelsea boast Tammy Abraham who is scoring for fun this season. It may not be a thrashing but expect the Blues to cruise to a comfortable win in this one.
