Burnley vs Man Utd: Predictions, Odds and Statistics- Premier League

Turf Moor, Burnley
Burnley 0 – 2 Man Utd
After only three games Man United already seem to be in full on crisis mode and will know that a win at Burnley has suddenly become vital.
Burnley’s slow start to the season has been a disappointment after qualifying for Europe for only the second time in their history last time out. Sean Dyche’s men only lost one of their first eight league matches last season beating Chelsea on the opening day but have already lost to both Watford and Fulham this campaign.
There is something very wrong at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho has been especially downbeat about some of his squad and he seems unable to motivate his team. Six goals conceded in the past two games is not what the fans want to see and nothing but a win at Turf Moor will quieten the calls for ‘the special one’ to be sacked.
Joe Hart has now let in seven goals in the last two games and will be hoping that Mourinho favours his much criticised defensive tactics. The former Manchester City keeper has experienced a torrid time at a number of clubs since Pep Guardiola showed him the door and may not be looking forward to the prospect of Lukaku and Rashford bearing down on him.
Mourinho was angry about the club’s refusal to back him in the transfer market over the summer but some of the players he has brought in have looked very ordinary this season. Add to that the confusion over the desire of players like Martial and Pogba to still be at the club and it all adds up to a must win match for United. They may not get that victory though – a 1-1 draw might be the only consolation.

With United so desperate for a win it is surely inconceivable that they will lose again. But Burnley are strong at home and with the Red Devils in a state of disarray a draw might be the most likely outcome.

Manchester United will be fired up for this one so scoring at least one goal should be attainable. But with a defence that does not inspire confidence even De Gea has started to ship goals. Even Burnley’s less than red hot attacking force could find the net.

Head to Head
Burnley managed a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Boxing Day last season, before being beaten 1-0 at Turf Moor less than a month later. They haven’t beaten United since August 2009.
- United have lost two of their first three opening fixtures for the first time since the 1992/93 season. They went on to win the Premier League that season.
- Burnley defender James Tarkowski has scored two goals already this campaign – a tally that would have him joint fourth top goal scorer for the whole of last season.
- Manchester United has conceded seven goals already this season. It took them until the end of November last season to get to the same amount.
- Burnley has put in more crosses than any one else in the Premier League so far this season – 79 at the last count. But they have only scored three goals in three matches.
