It is early days but so far Liverpool have continued exactly where they left off last season and head to Turf Moor with a good record against a Burnley side who look like they could be top ten contenders.
It is not hard to see why Liverpool are such big favourites with online betting sites to make the short trip home with three-points in the bag. However, it may not be as straightforward as one may think. Afterall, the last five Premier League games between the two has seen both teams find the back of the net with Liverpool scoring 12 to Burnley’s six in that time. Liverpool won four of those five games with the other a draw and based on the sides current form anything other than a Reds win would be a huge shock and the reason why Liverpool to win and both teams to score is such great value.
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE AND LIVERPOOL TO WIN
When you look at this game and think of Premier League top scorers, immediately Mo Salah springs to mind, or maybe Roberto Firmino and certainly Sadio Mane. However, there is one player who has outscored the lot of them in the three games so far, and that man is Burnley’s Ashley Barnes. The 29-year-old has netted four times this season and in every game of the Premier League season (one more than Salah) Few popular sportsbooks would have had Barnes as one of the leading hitmen this season, but his form cannot be argued with and is worth backing to score anytime.
ASHLEY BARNES TO SCORE ANYTIME
Three of Liverpool’s four games this season (including the European Super Cup) has seen four or more goals in the game. Burnley have been no slouches either having netted in all three of their Premier League games this season whilst last season both league games between the two witness four and six goals respectively. That means if you are in for a goals bet, then over 3.5 goals is the way to go.
OVER 3.5 GOALS
Head to Head
Liverpool netted seven times against Burnley last season including a 3-1 win at Turf Moor in December. That was the Reds second straight win at Turf Moor although Burnley did claimed victory over Liverpool on home soil in the Premier League in August 2016 with a 2-0 win. Overall, Burnley have won 37 times against Liverpool with the Reds claiming 55 victories and a total of 28 draws.
Liverpool to win 3-1
That is the exact result that happened the last time Liverpool travelled to Turf Moor in December 2018 and there are plenty of reasons to suggest that lightening will strike twice. For example, Liverpool have conceded once in all three of their Premier League games this season whilst Burnley have netted in all three of their games so far. With Burnley striker Ashley Barnes on fire, a Burnley goal is a sure thing. Expect Liverpool to take home the three-points but it will be uncomfortable afternoon for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp’s men eventually take home the three-points.
