Chelsea will look to continue their unbeaten Premier League record at Turf Moor and push on for the crown of ‘best of the rest’, however, Sean Dyche’s men have started brightly and will offer Chelsea no favours.
When it comes to extracting value from this game with online betting sites, you will be hard pressed to find a better bet than this. Burnley’s record at home against the Blues is not a strong one. In fact, Sean Dyche’s men have never beaten the Blues in the Premier League on home soil. However, The Clarets have managed to make it three score draws in three of their last seven matches with Chelsea both home and away and as Frank Lampard and co face a tough mid-week test against Ajax, expect a plucky Burnley side to snatch a point on home soil and dent Chelsea’s push for third.
DRAW AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
We love a over/under goals bet and if there is one thing we know, it is that Burnley know how to defend. In fact, at the time of writing, only Manchester City have kept more clean sheets in the Premier League this season than Burnley. Although we expect Chelsea to get through against The Clarets (after all, they do boast the league’s joint top scorer in Tammy Abraham), expect that to only be the once whilst Chelsea do likewise after looking laboured against Newcastle last weekend.
UNDER 2.75 GOALS
Not the highest paying bet this one but still well worth a punt with popular sportsbooks as everything suggests the net will bulge at both ends. That is because seven of the last nine meetings between the two has seen both sides score. If that wasn’t enough, Chelsea have scored in their last six games in all competitions (prior to the meeting with Ajax) whilst Burnley have scored in their last five games (including two score draws).
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
Head to Head
Chelsea enjoy a strong record away at Burnley. Last season, Ross Barkley was on the scoresheet as the Blues thumped The Clarets 4-0 at Turf Moor. Burnley did manage to get some revenge by taking a point in a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in the reverse fixture. However, Sean Dyche’s men have only ever managed one Premier League win over Chelsea (at the Bridge in 2017) and have never won at home in the Premier League era. Overall, Burnley has won 38 games against the Blues whilst Chelsea have claimed 36 wins with a total of 24 draws.
Match to end in a draw
Chelsea enter the game as the form side and with arguably a superior squad, however, without European distraction, Burnley have started the season strongly and have only lost one of their four Premier League home games this season. European distraction is something Chelsea will have to deal with this game follows the Blues tough away trip to take on Ajax in the Champions League. Expect that to have an impact on this game as the pair make it a fourth score draw in their last eight Premier League meetings.
