Brazil welcome Venezuela to Salvador as they meet in what will be a crucial game in Group A.
Brazil were able to get the best possible start to this year’s Copa America against Bolivia – and will expect another three points against one of the traditionally weaker nations in South America. But Tite will be wary of his opponent’s recent victories and may play a more conservative brand of football to ensure that all three points go to the hosts.
Venezuela faced Peru before coming up against the Selecao and managed to get a draw that will keep their dreams of progressing from this group alive. This is definitely the hardest game in the opening stage for La Vinotinto – and they may try to contain the Brazilian forward play and attack on the counter.
Brazil are the favourites with the bookies to win the Copa America on home soil – and are expected to ease through the group stage. A convincing win over Central American minnows Honduras in their final warm up match was an impressive show of intent and it would be a big surprise if Brazil drop any points here.
The sports betting sites have Venezuela as third favourites for this group but victories over Argentina and the United States this year will have given Rafael Dudamel’s side a huge boost of confidence. Brazil should still win this, but Salomon Rondon has been looking good recently and may get on the score sheet for Venezuela. This could finish 3-1 to the hosts.
Brazil should continue their winning streak over Venezuela here – but don’t be surprised if La Vinotinto manage to score.
The Barcelona playmaker scored twice in the opening game against Bolivia and is one of the most gifted players in the Brazil side.
Head to Head
Brazil have by far the better record between these two nations – with Venezuela only ever winning one match in the history of the fixture.
