Brampton Wolves Brampton Wolves made it to the Qualifier stage of GT20 Canada with 4 wins and 1 loss. The only loss they suffered this season was against Vancouver Knights. While this ground here at Ontario has favored the chasing side on multiple occasions, Brampton Wolves won twice batting first, defending a total of 207 and 222 runs. While they’ve got 2 wins batting first, they also have 2 wins batting second as they successfully chased 102 and 117 runs against Montreal and Winnipeg. Colin Munro, Babar Hayat, George Munsey starred with the bat in these run chases. While Lendl Simmons, Shahid Afridi shined with the bat along with Babar Hayat and George Munsey, when Brampton batted first. While bowling hasn’t been great for any team this season, the batting has dominated the season. In the games where Brampton won batting first, the winning margins were 11 and 27 runs. A target of 200-210 doesn’t guarantee a victory on this ground, especially if one’s up against Vancouver batting lineup. However, this is a knockout match and the stakes are high. Team batting second would be under pressure if the target is anything above 210, and with a disciplined bowling attack, they could defend it even if it’s a low margin. Vancouver Knights Vancouver had their 2 matches abandoned due to rain while winning 3 of the rest 4 matches. All their wins have come chasing, one of which includes a successful run chase against Brampton Wolves. The one match where Brampton batting order failed to put a decent total on the board batting first, Vancouver chased it down with 8 wickets in hand. Chris Gayle has been consistent and along with Chadwick Walton, Shoaib Malik and Tobias Visee have scored most of the runs for Vancouver. While Vancouver is not dependent on the top order all the time, the top-order batsmen have contributed most of the runs. However, Chadwick Walton and Shoaib Malik are very strong in the middle giving Vancouver a fighting chance in a scenario where Gayle is dismissed early in the innings. Vancouver’s only loss this season was against Winnipeg defending 208 runs as the opposition chased it down easily. Their bowlers have done well ever since and can be expected to defend a total of 210 plus in the Qualifier 1.
