Our Prediction Barbados Tridents vs Guyana Amazon Warriors
Guyana Amazon Warriors will win this game
The points table has already taken shape in Caribbean Premier League 2018. We have seen some incredible performances with the bat and the ball. As we inch closer to the end of the league stage the game between Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors is important for both the sides. For Jason Holder led Tridents the game is all about survivability in the tournament being struck on 4 points. Shoaib Malik’s Warriors on the other hand would like top the table by winning this game and seal their spot in the play-offs. Given this context it would be hard fought encounter and the crowds at Kensington Oval are likely to get a game worth their money.
It has been a roller-coaster ride for the Tridents this season. The started the season on a positive note defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors but post this they have shown signs of inconsistency loosing close games due to some poor application with the bat and the ball. They come into this game suffering three back to back losses against Jamaica Tallawahs, Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The team which was looking good at one stage of the tournament has completely lost its momentum and skipper Jason Holder would be worried about the poor batting form they have displayed in the last three games.
Their batting has been in doldrums in the last few games with Hashim Amla going through a terrible run of form. Martin Guptil’s return to form would give his skipper some confidence Shai Hope and Steven Smith who looked good in the first few games have suddenly fallen silent. Wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran, Holder himself and Dwayne Smith have looked good towards the end by the Top 4 have to fire if the side has to emerge victorious. In the blowing department Mohammad Irfan has bowled well and so have Wahab Riaz, Ashley Nurse and Holder himself. If the batsmen show some character the team would do well.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Warriors have been in amazing form this season and have won 4 out of their 6 games so far. They started the tournament on right note defeating St Kitts and Nevis Patriot and St Lucia Stars in back to back games. Their first loss interestingly came against Tridents. In the last three games they have defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs losing only to St Lucia Stars where of course they had a disastrous outing with the bat. All in all the team looks well-balanced and Shoaib Malik is leading them in an inspirational manner contributing with the bat and the ball.
In the batting department Shimron Hetmyer is in incredible form having blasted a century already this season. Openers Chadwick Walton and Luke Ronchi who looked in bad shape at the start of the season are also gaining confidence. The middle order is strong with Sherfane Rutherford and Sohaib Malik and the lower order has also made contributions when asked for. Bowling department for the Warriors is also in good shape with Sohail Tanvir and Imran Tahir doing well. Veerasammy Permaul has also impressed so far this season and if Chris Green shapes up well they are a great bowling attack.
The form and momentum is with the Guyana Amazon Warriors and they are miles ahead of Barbados Tridents going into this game.
