Barbados Tridents

It has been a roller-coaster ride for the Tridents this season. The started the season on a positive note defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors but post this they have shown signs of inconsistency loosing close games due to some poor application with the bat and the ball. They come into this game suffering three back to back losses against Jamaica Tallawahs, Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The team which was looking good at one stage of the tournament has completely lost its momentum and skipper Jason Holder would be worried about the poor batting form they have displayed in the last three games.

Their batting has been in doldrums in the last few games with Hashim Amla going through a terrible run of form. Martin Guptil’s return to form would give his skipper some confidence Shai Hope and Steven Smith who looked good in the first few games have suddenly fallen silent. Wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran, Holder himself and Dwayne Smith have looked good towards the end by the Top 4 have to fire if the side has to emerge victorious. In the blowing department Mohammad Irfan has bowled well and so have Wahab Riaz, Ashley Nurse and Holder himself. If the batsmen show some character the team would do well.

In the batting department Shimron Hetmyer is in incredible form having blasted a century already this season. Openers Chadwick Walton and Luke Ronchi who looked in bad shape at the start of the season are also gaining confidence. The middle order is strong with Sherfane Rutherford and Sohaib Malik and the lower order has also made contributions when asked for.
