Shakib Al Hasan would be distraught with the performance of his side in the first T20 game. They not only lost the game but were blown away by the West Indian storm. It looked completely different batting tracks for the two sides. While the Bangladeshi batsmen struggled and got out to poor shots, the West Indies milked their bowling in one of the most emphatic wins in the recent times. There seemed some bit of overconfidence among Bangladeshis as they kept getting out to the short balls. With the kind of defeat they failed it would take some pep talk from the skipper to lift the spirits of his side and win the upcoming game to stay alive in the series.

It was a horrible show from the Top 3 in the last game with Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar getting out in similar fashion. They would look forward to a good show in the next game. Shakib Al Hasan played a captain’s knock and took his side to a decent score. He would hope Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah support him well in the next game. Bangladeshi bowlers had a forgettable day in the park in the 1st game and everyone from Mustafizur Rahman to Mehidy Hasan and Hassan himself will look to contain the West Indian batsmen in the next game.

West Indies

Carlos Brathwaite couldn’t have asked for a better start to the T20 series than this from his team. They demoralized the opponents with the manner in which they won. If the bowlers were economical and clinical in their approach the batsmen started on the top gear from the word go and never took their feet off the accelerator paddle. They chased down the small total of 130 with nine overs to spare and eight wickets in hand. Brathwaite would hope his side continues with the same kind of momentum in the next game and doesn’t give it away as they have made a habit of doing in the recent times.

Shai Hope is growing in stature with every game he is playing in this tour and what a gem of a knock he played in the last game. Evin Lewis too looked good till he got out and he would look to make it big in the next game. Nicholas Pooran and Keemo Paul toyed with the Bangladeshi bowling and looked in murderous form. With Shimron Hetmyer, Darren Bravo, and Carlos Brathwaite in the lower order they have the side to hit the ball a distance. Sheldon Cottrell was brilliant in his first game of the tour with the new ball and Oshane Thomas too was impressive. Keemo Paul, Fabian Allen and Brathwaite impressed as well and they would look forward to repeating the same kind of performance in the next game.

Our Prediction for Bangladesh vs West Indies

West Indies shall win the 2nd T20

West Indies are the World Champions in T20 cricket and despite missing some of their biggest stars in this format they played like world champions in the 1st game. They didn’t just defeat the Bangladeshis but humiliated them in front of their home crowd. It would lift up the spirits for the visitors who looked in deep trouble in the recently concluded Test and ODI series. Bangladesh on the other hand would have to win the next game at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka to take the contest to the 3rd game of the series. Given Bangladesh’s resolve in home conditions we should have a blockbuster game on our hands.

The kind of performance that the West Indies side put up in the 1st game would make them the likely contenders for a win in the 2nd T20 game of the series.
