Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd ODI Squads Comparison

Mashrafe Mortaza would have been extremely proud of the manner in which his side defeated the West Indies in the first ODI. It was a comprehensive win where his side dominated the game right from the start. It was a great all round performance from the hosts which saw them win the game without dropping any sweat. Bangladesh have become one of the toughest sides to beat at home in the recent years and they didn’t do anything wrong in the first game to break that notion. With a series win in the horizon in the second game Mortaza would like his men to keep up the same momentum and seal the three match series.

Tamim Iqbal’s return after injury has strengthened the side. While he failed in the last game his partner Liton Das got the team off to a good start. The experienced duo of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan looked in good touch and so did Mahmudullah. It was however their bowling that won them the previous game with Mustafizur Rahman and skipper Mortaza destroying the visitor’s batting line-up. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib also bowled well and they would like to continue the same way in the next game.

West Indies

The problems for Rovman Powell and his men remain the same as they were during the ODI series in India. The team just fails to build partnerships in the middle. There is no lack of talent in the side but it is the application part where the team is struggling. The batsmen are failing to play to the merit of the ball and throwing away their wickets pretty easily. Powell would hope his side comes out of this self-inflicted misery and plays as per the need of the hour. One more loss would add to another series loss in the sub-continent and he would hope his side fights it out in the middle in the next game.

Batting has been the weak link for the side and in the last game too it failed. Kieran Powell’s struggle continues while Shai Hope did well in the last game but that was it. Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels and Shimron Hetmyer failed to convert their starts and so did the skipper. It was the lower order Roston Chase and Keemo Paul who rescued the side. The bowling fared better but not enough to script a win. Kemar Roach and Oshane Thomas have to take more responsibility and in these conditions the team would depend on Devendra Bishoo to pick wickets and contain the flow of runs in the middle overs. The team has to pull up its socks to win it from here to win the next game.

Our Prediction for Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd ODI Match

Bangladesh would win the 2nd ODI

The script for the West Indies was similar in the 1st ODI of the series as it has been during their on-going tour of the sub-continent. The top order failed to give the side a good start and the big stars failed. Bangladesh on the other hand played to their potential and held their home fort strong. As the teams now move to the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka for the 2nd ODI it is a must win game for the West Indies to stay alive in the series. The hosts on the other hand wouldn’t like to take their feet of the accelerator and seal the series. If the West Indians play well it would be an interesting contest and a run feast is on the cards on a flat Dhaka track.

Bangladesh is in great form while the West Indies are struggling with their batting and the hosts would definitely start as favourites in the next game.
