South Africa

Skipper Aaron Finch would have cherished the win in the last game more than any other in his career so far. The team which was being destroyed by batsmen and plagued by poor show with the bat over the last couple of months finally came good. This isn’t the kind of situation that Australian team finds itself in on a regular basis. The skipper would have been impressed with the way his side played as a unit in the last game. There weren’t much of individual heroics but a complete team performance where the batsmen and bowlers made their small contributions to win the game.  Having smelled blood Finch would hope his side holds on to the momentum and wins the upcoming game and the series.

Aaron Finch found form in the last game but his opening partner Travis Head is struggling. In the all-important last game the duo would have to give their team the perfect start. Return of Shaun Marsh has strengthened the middle order. With wicket keeper Alex Carey, Chris Lynn and Glenn Maxwell the batting order looks strong enough to take on the opponents. Australian bowlers won the last game for the side and it was good to see Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood in great form. They would look to continue with the same in the next game. With Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis in the supporting act the side has the right bowling combination to win the next game.

South Africa

Faf du Plessis would be upset with the result from the last game. The bowlers did well to restrict the Australians to a total of 231. Given the strength and depth in the batting order South Africans would have surely taken that score at the half time. But they completely messed up the run chases on a pitch where there wear no demons. The inability to build partnerships cost them the game. Other than the skipper himself none of the Top 5 batsmen made contributions leaving too much for the lower order to chase in the end. Faf du Plessis would know that a resurgent Australian side will throw everything in the last game and his side needs to bring out their best game to win the series.

Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock will have to play like the way they did in the first game while opening the batting. The middle order has to play to its potential and with Aiden Markram and du Plessis and No. 3 and 4 and the likes of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen should pile up a good score with their hitting abilities. The batsmen have to work on building partnerships something they failed to do in the last game. Bowling attack is in great form especially Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada. Lungi Ngidi will look to improve upon his performance from the last game. Imran Tahir and Dwaine Pretorius bowled well in Adelaide and the duo would look to capitalize on the form in the next game and tie up the Australians in the middle overs.

Australians have better understanding of the conditions and now with a victory behind them they would be slightly ahead of the South Africans going into this game.

Our Prediction for Australia vs South Africa

Australia will win the 2nd ODI

After being hammered by the opponents over the last few weeks across different formats of the game Australia finally registered a spectacular win against the South Africans in Adelaide Oval to make it 1-1 in the series. This was incidentally their first win in ODIs after seven consecutive losses. The win would have lifted the spirits of the team and the cricket loving nation who have had little to cheer about in the last few months. While South Africans didn’t play poorly they weren’t able to hold their nerves in the last few overs of the game. With a series win to play for in the next game at Bellerive Oval, Hobart we will have a great contest between the bat and the ball from both the sides.
