Australia

Australian skipper Tim Paine had the last laugh after all the exchange of words that happened between him and his counterpart Kohli. Paine would be heavily relieved with the win and the fact that they have undone India’s advantage. It wasn’t that big a comprehensive win on a Perth track like Australians have done in the past with touring Asian sides but Paine would take it with both hands. His side would start with momentum on their side in the upcoming game. Having exploited India’s batting weakness against quality fast and spin bowling Paine would be raring to go at his opponents.

Australian openers did well in the first innings to set up this win with Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris getting 50s and they would look forward to giving the same start if Finch recovers from his injury. Usman Khawaja retuned to form in this game and Shaun Marsh also continued with his good form. With Travis Head in great zone and the likes of Tim Paine and Peter Handscomb in the mix the side has good batting talent. Bowling wise it was impressive show of pure fast bowling from Mitchell Starc. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood supported him well while Nathan Lyon is making Indians dance to their feet so far in the Australia vs India series. They have the bowling attack to trouble the Indian line-up in the next game.

India

For Indian skipper Virat Kohli it would be a loss that would hurt for a long time. He messed up with the team selection picking Umesh Yadav ahead of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar or Ravindra Jadeja and that decision came back to haunt him throughout the Test Match. Yadav’s mindless bowling allowed the hosts to score runs when pressure was being created by other bowlers. With the hosts regaining their confidence the road ahead gets tougher for the Indian team. It will need good pep talk from the skipper and great determination from the team to fight back hard and win the next game.

The opening pair of Murli Vijay and KL Rahul is giving serious headaches to the team management and in all likelihood both of them would be dropped after terrible show in the first two Test Matches. Cheteshwar Pujara suffered a rare failure with the bat while Kohli was at his phenomenal best with that ton. Ajinkya Rahane played well in both the innings but for India to do well he will have to convert his start into a big score. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma bowled well especially Shami but the absence of a quality spinner let the side down. The trio who have been in brilliant form this tour will need to repeat their show at the MCG for India to do well.

Our Prediction for Australia vs India, 3rd Test Match

Australia would win the 3rd Test Match

The Test Series has come alive with the Australian team registering an emphatic win in the 2nd Test Match to level the series 1-1. India’s old nemesis of playing in fast pitches came back to haunt them and with poor team selection in the last game they surrendered the advantage to the hosts. With the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground set to host the Boxing Day Test Match the stakes are high for both the sides. A win at MCG can take Indians a step closer to a fairy-tale series win Down Under while the Aussie side after having smelt blood won’t like the Indians to escape easily. It would be a hard fought Test Match with both the sides having had a go at each other’s weakness earlier in the series.

The two sides fought well in the last Test Match and Australians who have momentum on their side would find themselves little ahead of the Indians. The hosts would start as the favourite side to win the upcoming Test Match.
