India Tour of Australia 2nd Test
It isn’t easy being an Australian captain these days and Tim Paine would be very disappointed with the loss at Adelaide. They almost had the game in the first session of the Test Match but allowed the Indians to get away. While the bowlers did well in patches they failed to exploit opportunities in the first innings letting India develop partnerships on a difficult batting wicket. However, it was the batting failure of the top order that would be worrying Paine. A loss in the next game at Perth would make it a point of no return for the side and Paine would hope his fast bowlers exploit Indian batsmen’s weakness on fast pitches and level the series 1-1.
Aaron Finch’s struggle is making it tough for the side while his opening partner Marcus Harris did well in debut getting off to starts. Usman Khawaja’s form at No. 3 isn’t looking good. In the middle order Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head and Paine got starts but they would need to do more than that in the upcoming game. The gritty batting of the lower order in the second innings would give lot of confidence to the side. The side bowled well in the last game with Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins all troubling the Indians. Nathan Lyon was at his best like he has always been against the Indians and it would be interesting to see how he performs at Perth with little assistance from the pitch.
Test match wins for Indians have been rare in Australia with the last win being only the sixth in their history Down Under. Virat Kohli has infused confidence in the side ever since he took leadership and this was visible in the last game where they came out with a strong fight after being in a difficult position in the first innings. There were contributions from all quarters in the win that Indian fans would cherish for a long time. Kohli would be aware of India’s poor record at Perth and like to change it. A win at Perth will put them in a comfortable position as far as the AUS vs IN series is concerned and Kohli would like his team to show the same fighting spirit once again.
The opening combination isn’t working to India’s favour and Murli Vijay seems to be well past his prime while KL Rahul is failing to convert his starts. Cheteshwar Pujara at No. 3 was the difference between the two sides in the last game with a brilliant hundred in the 1st innings. Kohli who failed by his standards is due for a big score. Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma make a strong batting line-up. The lower order needs to contribute more to put the side in a comfortable situation. The bowling attack fired as expected with the top four bowlers Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin all being among the wickets. The three quick bowlers would relish bowling on a fast Perth pitch.
Our Prediction for Australia vs India 2nd Test Match
Indians would win the 2nd Test Match
What a series opener it was an Adelaide Oval where hosts Australia and #1 Test side in the world Indians engaged in a seesaw battle. Indians finally emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 31 runs in one of the most thrilling encounters in recent times. For the Indian team it was a change from their standard practice of losing series opener away from home. After getting off to a poor start in the first innings the visitors fought back well to dominate rest of the Test Match. The upcoming Test at Perth unarguably the fastest pitch in the world will be the real test for the visitors with Australians expected to come hard at them. An exciting contest is on the cards at Perth which fans on both the sides would cheer about.
It is a close call with the Indian team in good form and Australians all set to make a strong comeback. Going into the 2nd Test Match the Indian team will find itself nose ahead of the Australians.
