Plunket Shield Match 1 Squad Comparison

Auckland won 3 out of 8 matches in the Plunket Shield 2018-19 and finished at number 3 in the points table. Robert ODonnell, Sean Solia, and Jeet Raval have been the cornerstone of Auckland batting line-up playing a crucial role at the top. While Mark Chapman also showcased his batting abilities in the middle and had some good partnerships alongside Craig Cachopa. Corey Anderson, Graeme Beghin and Ben Horne are other batting all-rounders in the squad for Auckland.

Wicket-keeper batsman Craig Cachopa played some very significant innings last season and would be a key player for the Auckland Aces along with Finn Allen, another wicket-keeper batsman in the squad. Glenn Phillips has been involved in quite many T20 tournaments around the world. It will be interesting to see him find his spot in the playing XI in the Plunket Shield 2019-20. The bowling attack consisting of Danru Ferns, Matt McEwan, and Jamie Brown had delivered decent performances last season. However, Auckland would need a consolidated team effort from their bowlers including Kyle Jamieson to start things off on a winning note.

Central Districts

Skipper Greg Hay will be the key player with the bat for Central Districts. He’s got the potential to deliver some match-winning performances through the season along with Will Young, and George Worker in the middle. Other key batsmen in the CD squad would be Ben Smith and batting all-rounder Josh Clarkson.

While Central Districts will be going into this season with only 1 wicket-keeper Dane Cleaver, Willem Ludick is also the only bowling all-rounder in the squad. CD is strong in the bowling department with the likes of Doug Bracewell, Ajaz Patel, Adam Milne, Blair Tickner, Ben Wheeler, and Seth Rance. Greg Hay would have many bowling options in addition to batting all-rounders like George Worker and Tom Bruce who can bowl well and find a breakthrough for Central Districts when needed.
