Atalanta vs Juventus: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Europa League hopefuls Atalanta host runaway Serie A leaders Juventus in one of the pick of the Boxing Day fixtures from Italy.
Home or away matters little for Juventus – they’ve yet to lose a domestic fixture this season and have dropped points only once, drawing with Genoa back in October. Every year the question is asked if this is the season the Old Lady will fall from grace, and every year Juve answer strongly in the negative.
It’s the usual suspects coming up behind the Turin club – Napoli in second and the Milan clubs rounding out the top four but betting sites’ odds would have been long on Atalanta being in the mix too. The Bergamo club are vying with Roma and Lazio for the chance to break into Serie A’s top four and after a strong first half of the season, they’ve as good a chance as any of their rivals.
The last time Juve went to Atalanta was back in October 2017 – save for a Coppa Italia tie in January 2018 – and two late goals saw the hosts come back from 2-0 down to take a point. Indeed, Atalanta have rarely been overwhelmed by Juventus – the last time the clubs met, in March, Juventus won 2-0 but only shored up the game once La Dea went down to 10 men.
Even so, it’s nigh-on impossible to back against Juventus in Serie A and perhaps the best Atalanta can hope for is to push the champions all the way again. A narrow win, such as 2-1, to the visitors looks in the offing.

Atalanta haven’t had trouble scoring this season, netting 30 times in their first 16 games, but they’ve been breached too often at the other end, conceding more than a goal per game. Juventus have plenty of firepower too.

Atalanta scored in the opening minute in beating Lazio in their last home outing and a similar quick start should be on the agenda for coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

While Atalanta’s recent record against Juventus is possibly one of the stronger in Serie A, they have only recorded two wins in 41 attempts against the Biaconeri.
The last was in 2004 when Atalanta won a cup tie 2-0, and before that it’s all the way back to 2001, when Atalanta took a 2-1 victory in a Serie A fixture.
- Juventus went five Serie A games without conceding, beating Milan, SPAL, Fiorentina, Inter and Torino by an aggregate score of 9-0 between early November and late December.
- Atalanta have lost two of their last five home league games, dropping points against Napoli in early December and Sampdoria in October.
- Juve haven’t conceded a goal to Atalanta since the October 2017 draw, twice winning 1-0 and once 2-0 in the three fixtures since.
