AEK Larnaca vs Leverkusen: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Friday, December 14th, 2018, 1:30 am
AEK Larnaca 1 – 5 Leverkusen
Top spot is on the line for Bayer Leverkusen as Larnaca are left to lick their wounds for yet another year.
The group winner is yet to be decided with Bayer Leverkusen and Zurich both facing away trips.
Cypriot side AEK Larnaca host table toppers Leverkusen who have just to match Zurich’s result against Ludogorets in order to top Group A.
The German’s will be in buoyant mood after a run of four games in all competitions without defeat even if head coach Heiko Herrlich will be a little disappointed to have drawn against Ludogorets in matchday five of the Europa League.
Larnaca have drawn two and lost one at home in the Group stage this season which is by no means a poor record, but they have scored six goals less than their German opponents in the competition and cannot overhaul either Bayer or Zurich for second.
The Cypriots may have one eye on an important league clash with second place Apollon at the weekend now that their European adventure is all but over.
Bayer will want to top the group and should do against a side who has conceded in both their home group games so far.
Bayer has also scored five goals in their two away group games and have played impressive football of late.
By contrast, Larnaca have scored just one of their five Europa League goals on home soil making a Bayer 2-0 win the best-looking bet when checking out famous betting sites for the best odds.

Head to Head
The matchday two encounter is the only prior meeting between the pair.
An entertaining contest ensued at Bayer’s BayArena with the home side winning 4-2.
However, Larnaca took the lead on the 25th minute thanks to Ivan Trichkovski before Bayer raced into a 3-1 lead thanks to Kai Havertz and a brace from Lucas Alario.
Dimitris Raspas made the home side sweat by pulling one back in the 90th minute but a minute later Julian Brandt ensured Bayer took the points in a 4-2 win.
- Larnaca have never progressed beyond the group stages and are already eliminated this season.
- Bayer have scored five goals more than anyone else in Group A.
- Leverkusen won the tournament in 1988.
- Only Fenerbache (17) have more yellow cards than Leverkusen (16).
- Bayer midfielder Kai Havertz has had eight attempts in the group stage which is more than any other player to have played just four games.
