Score: 1-1.

The second round of this season’s Premier League sees Manchester United travel to Molineux on Monday night to take on a Wolves side that will be playing in the Europa League midweek.

Our Betting Tips

Wolves have won their last two home games against Man Utd by two goals to one, in both the league fixture and in the FA Cup last term the home side ran out 2-1 winners.

Wolves are unbeaten in their last eight home games and lost only five times at Molineux in the Premier League last season. That good home record will give United something to think about on top of the fact that Wolves conceded eight fewer goals than Man Utd last term, and that could be why the bookies are offering evens odds on the Total Goals over 2.5 market.

Marcus Rashford scored a brace in the 4-0 defeat of Chelsea on Sunday, a first half penalty and a smart finish in the second when he broke the offside trap. The 20-year-old managed 10 league goals last season and will want a better return this term.

Wolves will want to kick start their league campaign with a home win over a Manchester United side that they beat twice at Molineux last year. On the other hand, United will be full of confidence after their opening day win, but playing Wolves away will be a different proposition.

Head to Head

These sides last met in the Premier League in April and Wolves took the three points by winning the game 2-1. The match at Old Trafford finished in a 1-1 draw.

The Red Devils just about take the historical head to head by winning 39 of the 84 fixtures between the sides, while Wolves have managed 31 victories and there have been 14 draws.

  • Wolves have lost just once in their last four home games against Man Utd in all competitions, which was a 5-0 drubbing back in 2012.
  • Man Utd had a great start to their Premier League campaign by beating Chelsea 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, a Marcus Rashford double, Anthony Martial and a debut goal for new signing Daniel James sent them on their way to the three points.
  • Wolves fought out a goalless stalemate with Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday and are in action midweek when they take on Armenia side Pyunik FC in the Europa League third qualifying round at home with a 4-0 lead from the first leg.
  • Man Utd went unbeaten during their pre-season friendly matches winning six out of six and that victory over Chelsea on the weekend made it seven games without a loss since losing to Cardiff at home on the final day of last season.

Our Prediction for Wolves vs Man United

The match to end in a draw

Wolves will want to kick off their league campaign with a home win after their opening day goalless draw with Leicester, but will face a team looking to build on an impressive victory over Chelsea on the weekend. New signing Patrick Cutrone will be in contention for a starting role after coming off the bench in that 0-0 draw with the Foxes.

For Manchester United, this match will be a good test of their seasonal aspirations as last year they were beaten twice in Molineux by Wolves. If they can leave the Black Country with a win that will go a long way to quietening some of the unhappy voices that grew loud due to the lack of attacking signings in the transfer window, however they will face a hungry and energetic team that will fight for every ball.
