The match is over.
Tottenham need to kick their season into gear after a lacklustre start but the high-flying Eagles have already caught more than one opponent out this season.
History suggest when these two London rivals collide, there is a serious dearth of goals. To highlight this point, the last eight meetings between the two in all competitions have never seen more than two goals scored in any of those games. That is quite remarkable considering the likes of Harry Kane has been almost ever present against the Eagles. However, it is also a statistic that offers opportunity with online betting sites in the over/under goals market.
UNDER 2.5 GOALS
For value in this game, we are yet to come across a better bet than Tottenham to win the game with a one goal winning margin. Spurs have won the last eight Premier League games between the two which is why online betting sites have Tottenham down as heavy odds on to win the game, but also of those eight wins, six came by the way of a single goal. We may be putting a lot of our eggs into a low scoring affair but recent results and head to heads suggest this game is likely to be closer towards the end of the highlights rather than at the beginning.
TOTTENHAM TO WIN BY ONE GOAL
As mentioned above, goals have been hard to come by and that ties in nicely with another tip we have here. Nine of the last ten head to heads between the two have only seen one side score in the match. Traditionally these clashes have been tight, and another 90 minutes of tense action looks set to ensue, especially as three of Crystal Palace’s Premier League games this season have seen just one side score in the game.
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – NO
Head to Head
Tottenham can take plenty of confidence from their Premier League record against Palace. Last season a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park was backed up with a 2-0 win on home soil. However, Hodgson’s men did gain revenge of sorts with an FA Cup victory over the Lilywhites in January. Overall, Spurs have claimed 30 wins over Palace with the Eagles claiming 12 and a total of 12 draws.
Tottenham to win 1-0
It always used to be 1-0 to the Arsenal but in this game, it is the other North London side who are set to make that tag their own. The Lilywhites have beaten the Eagles 1-0 in five of their last seven meetings and although Crystal Palace are riding high right now, Tottenham have enough about them to come through a nervy 90 minutes with a narrow single goal winning margin.
