Rotherham United vs Leeds United: Predictions, Betting Tips and Odds
Yet another Yorkshire derby takes place as Marcelo Bielsa takes table toppers Leeds to Rotherham in a contest that will have major ramifications at both ends of the table.
Despite holding a one-point lead at the top of the Championship, January has not been a kind month to Leeds United.
Just one win from their three games in 2019 is a poor return for a side that prior to last weekend has a four-point gap at the top.
However, defeat to Stoke eroded that to just one and the fallout from ‘Spygate’ has helped matters little further for the Whites.
That said, better to be in Leeds’s position than their opponents Rotherham who hold a slender two-point advantage over Reading who occupy the final relegation place.
This is a contest of two sides currently off the boil, but Leeds will view this as a way to kickstart their 2019 as they should too.
The Whites have won the last three meetings with Rotherham including a 2-0 win at Elland Road in August and have scored more times on the road this season (24) than anyone else.
That is the reason why Leeds are still favourites for promotion with popular betting sites and also the reason the visitors will maintain their record of scoring in every away game they have contested this season in a back to form 2-0 win.
- Leeds to win both halves
The Whites’ last two wins in the Championship saw them net either side of the break and with 24 goals on the road this season look highly capable of repeating the same feat.
- Leeds to win to nil
Three of Leeds United’s last four wins over Rotherham has been achieved with a clean sheet (including an FA Cup tie) and considering only Bolton and Ipswich have scored fewer goals all term than Rotherham, it looks set to be a good day for Bielsa’s Leeds.
1 x 2 Odds
Leeds beat Rotherham 2-0 when the pair met in the reverse fixture back in August.
The Millers last beat Leeds in April 2016 (four games ago) 2-1 in the Championship in a season Rotherham just avoided the drop.
Overall, the head to head is fairly even with Rotherham claiming 14 wins, Leeds 16 and a total of just 6 draws between the two.
- No side has scored more times on the road this season than Leeds (24).
- Rotherham has conceded 12 goals in their last three outings in all competitions.
- Leeds has scored in every away game they have contested this season.
- Rotherham won the first ever meeting between the two 4-2 in a 1951 Division Two contest.
- Only Bolton and Ipswich have scored fewer than Rotherham’s 27 strikes in the Championship this season.
