The match is over.
Romania look to narrow the gap between them and the group leaders as they welcome Spain to Bucharest on match day five.
Spain have started qualifying perfectly but Romania’s greater need for points suggests that this will be tough game for the visitors. A home win seems unlikely – but it could end all square.
MATCH TO END IN A DRAW
Both sides have managed to score 11 goals in just four qualifying games – so it looks like there could be more in Bucharest as the two attacking units go up against each other.
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
With this international break falling so early in the new season there might be some rusty defenders not completely match fit. With both sides possessing some excellent attacking talent there should also be at least three goals – and if Spain do manage the victory then this could be a great match for the fans.
SPAIN TO WIN AND OVER 2.5 GOALS
Head to Head
These two nations have rarely faced each other – with the last game in 2016 ending in a 0-0 draw. The last time these two met in a competitive fixture was at Euro 96 when Spain won a group stage match 2-1.
A surprising draw
Spain have started these Euro 2020 qualifiers in fine form – winning four from four and looking odds on to qualify for next year’s finals. But Romania have been improving steadily over the last few years and will look to use home advantage to good effect. The odds of 6/1 for a Romania win are very tempting but this Spain team does not get beaten easily.
