Previewing This Weekend’s FA Cup Semi-Finals
There are two terrific FA Cup Semi-Finals taking place at Wembley this weekend with Chelsea facing Southampton and Spurs taking on Manchester United. The Red Devils will be desperate to bounce back from their disappointing 1-0 defeat to West Brom, which handed Manchester City the Premier League title. Jose Mourinho questioned the attitude of some of his players following that loss and a number of them including Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez will need to ensure they are significantly sharper here.
With the game being staged at Wembley, some United fans have raised concerns about the perceived advantage that Spurs will accrue from playing their regular home matches at the national stadium. The North London outfit have been popular in the betting as a result and are currently priced up as the 6/5 favourites with bet365.
Spurs were also defeated on April 14th as they struggled to contain Premier League champions Manchester City at Wembley but they possess a number of potential match-winners with Christian Eriksen always likely to influence the game. The Dane is priced at 19/5 to score during the 90 minutes.
There are just four points separating these two sides in the Premier League table and they each look likely to finish in the Champions League spots. They will both be keen to get their hands on some silverware this season. Manchester United were defending champions in last year’s competition but were eliminated by Chelsea and the pair could meet again in the final. Jose Mourinho’s side are 23/10 to progress.
Chelsea and Southampton Could Serve Up Another Cracker
Olivier Giroud was Chelsea’s hero on April 14th as the Frenchman inspired a comeback at St.Mary’s. The Blues were trailing 2-0 with thirty minutes left on the clock before the Arsenal loanee struck. The pair meet again in the FA Cup and it could be another lively 90 minutes.
Southampton have relegation worries and there could be the temptation to rest a few key players here. Mark Hughes’ side look leaky at the back but they have started to look much sharper in the final third. The Saints are 13/2 to exact revenge on Antonio Conte’s side with the Blues priced at 2/5 with bet365.
It’s 4/5 for Over 2.5 Goals to land once again and it could be another absorbing clash between the pair.
