Parma vs Juventus: Betting Tips, Odds & Predictions

Serie A Parma vs Juventus
Parma vs Juventus, Serie A, Ennio Tardini Stadium

The match is over.
Score: 0-1.

The opening weekend of the Serie A campaign sees Parma welcome eight in a row champions Juventus to the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday evening.

Our Betting Tips

Parma were one of the few teams that took a point off the Bianconeri before they mathematically won the league in April by coming from two goals down to draw 3-3 in the Allianz Stadium in February.

The odds of another similar score line in this one is a massive 75/1 with 10Bet, that result is highly unlikely however, while a 1-0 Juve victory is a better bet and is available at 6/1 with 10bet.

Juventus have changed Coach with Maurizio Sarri arriving from Chelsea to replace Max Allegri who parted ways with the club after five years and five league titles. The champions are looking to develop a more attacking football philosophy in their aim to lift the Champions League. It could take a while for Sarri to get his squad firing on all cylinders and Parma could take advantage of the potential upheaval with the Old Lady, and that could be why the bookies are offering odds of 4/9 for the Total Goals under 3.5 market.

Cristiano Ronaldo had been struggling with injury in the final pre-season warm up games, but is expected to be fit in time for the league opener. The Portuguese superstar scored 21 times in his debut season in Italy and is 49/20 to score the first goal of this tie.

Juve will hope to kick start their league campaign with a win, but the Giallorossi could be a tough nut to crack in their home ground. The champion’s attacking firepower might prove to be the difference in this game and that could be why the best sites are offering short odds for a Juventus win. 10bet are offering 15/2 for a 2-1 win for the Bianconeri.

GAME TO END 1-2 AT 15/2

Head to Head

These sides last met in Serie A in February and the game finished 3-3 at the Allianz Stadium. In the previous fixture at the Ennio Tardini it was the Bianconeri that ran out 2-1 winners. The Old Lady take the historical head to head by winning 23 of the last 46 matches between the sides, while Parma have managed just nine victories, while there have been 14 draws.

  • Parma are unbeaten in their last four home games in Serie A, however, three of those matches ended as draws. They won five of their ties played at the Tardini last season.
  • Juve failed to win any of their last five games in the league last season after they had been crowned as champions. They won 13 of their 19 games on their travels in Serie A in the last campaign.
  • Parma had a decent 3-1 win over Venezia in the Coppa Italia on the weekend, thanks in part to a Gervinho double.  On the opening day of last season, the Giallorossi drew 2-2 with another black and white stripped club in Udinese at the Tardini.
  • Juve didn’t look so hot during their pre-season friendlies, losing to Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, and beat lowly Triestina 1-0 on the weekend in their final warm up match.  They have won each of their last three opening games in the league since losing 1-0 at home to Udinese in 2015.

Our Prediction for Parma vs Juventus

The match to end in a Juve win

Parma will want to give their home fans something to sing about on the opening day of the season and will be keen to pick up something out of this fixture. New signing Yann Karamoh who joined from Inter could make his debut along with French full-back Vincent Laurini. Meanwhile, Danish striker Andreas Cornelius will fight it out with Roberto Inglese for a starting role up top – while last season’s top goal scorer Gervinho is fit and ready to go and will want to add to his brace he netted against the Bianconeri last term.

For Juventus, this match will be a good test of their new ideology, can they win with an attacking style or will it be more of the same, grinding out results, particularly against sides like Parma. Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey arrived on free transfers from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal respectively and will be pushing for a starting role in midfield, while €75m signing from Ajax Matthijs de Ligt could also feature.
