Paris Saint Germain vs Red Star Belgrade: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
After earning a creditable draw with Napoli in their debut Champions League game, Serbian side Crvena Zvezda have no respite with a trip to Paris Saint-Germain.
It is hard to look beyond the French heavyweights in this game despite that loss to Liverpool in the opening group game.
Crvena Zvezda – also known as Red Star Belgrade and the 1991 European Cup Winners – have been thrown in the deep end of the Champions League. That said, they are a tough outfit and won’t be broken down easily.
PSG look in dominant form in Ligue 1 once again this season and the undeniable quality of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves – the list could go on.
However, Crvena will be no push overs and come into the game with a near perfect domestic record.
Expect PSG’s quality to shine through as they take their time but eventually break down Crvena’s stout defence to claim a 2-0 win.
- PSG to keep a clean sheet
Red Star Belgrade may be in Europe’s elite club competition but attacking wise they pose little threat compared to their opponents as their stale 0-0 with Napoli showed.
Although PSG’s defence looked a little up in the air at times against Liverpool, the class of Firmino and Salah is slightly different to that of Crvena’s forwards of Nikola Stojiljković and Milan Pavkov (no disrespect intended of course) making a Parisian clean sheet more of a sure thing.
- Under 2.5 goals
Many people expect this to be a case of how many for PSG, but we do not see that being the case.
After all, in Crvena’s opening nine league games this season they only conceded four times and managed to prevent Napoli from finding the back of their net.
Expect PSG to win, but perhaps not by as much as some people are anticipating.

Head to Head
This will be the first time the two clubs will have met in UEFA competition making for something of an unknown quantity.
However, rather interestingly, no Serbian side has ever won a game on French soil in European competition with the record standing at three draws and sixteen losses firmly putting the home side as favourites for this game.
- Crvena zvezda’s draw with Napoli in the opening group game was also their debut in the Champions League group stage.
- PSG have drawn their last three Champions League game on English soil.
- No Serbian side has ever won on French soil, D3, L16.
- This is the sides first ever meeting in the UEFA Champions League.
- Paris St Germain sit bottom of group C after losing 3-2 to Liverpool in their opening game.
