Newcastle vs Watford: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Newcastle look to record their first win of the season as they welcome a rejuvenated Watford side to St James’ Park.
With ten games already gone this season Newcastle are still winless and have not really looked close to changing that so far. The home crowd will always be on hand to help the Magpies but performances have been below par and they need to start picking up points soon if they are not to return to the Championship.
Watford have rediscovered the fine form that they were showing at the start of the season, winning their last two Premier League games against Wolves and Huddersfield without conceding a goal. They, along with Bournemouth, have surprised a few people this season and it would not be a big shock for the Hornets to get all three points against Newcastle.
Rafa Benitez may still have the full backing of the fans but results have not been good this season. Just three points out of a possible 30 is relegation form – and Newcastle also crashed out of the EFL Cup to Championship side Nottingham Forest at the first hurdle. Things need to change at St James’ Park – and fast.
Watford went four games without a victory in the league in the middle of September but have continued to play some very attractive football with coach Javi Gracia believing that he possesses the best squad in the Premier League. Whether that is true is to be debated but his side should get another three points against Newcastle and could win this one 2-0.
- Watford to win

- Watford to win to nil

- Argentinian midfielder Roberto Pereyra has been one of the stars of the season and is Watford’s top goal scorer so far, finding the net in both of their last two games.
- Newcastle’s woeful season has been exemplified by their poor finishing. With just six league goals, only bottom of the table Huddersfield have scored fewer.
- Watford are enjoying their best ever start to a top-flight season. The 19 points from 10 games betters Graham Taylor’s record of 17 at the same stage of the 1982/83 season.
- Newcastle are one of just two clubs with no victories in the Premier League this season. Their three points have come from three draws in which they also failed to score a goal.
