The match is over.
Wolfsberg’s debut in the group stage is an achievement in its own right but now they come up against European regulars Borussia Monchengladbach as reality starts to bite.
Many online betting sites predict goals on both sides of the park. However, we disagree as Wolfsberger head to Borussia Park for the first time ever in the Europa League group stages and may find it difficult to adapt once the action heats up. The last time the Austrians played German opposition they succumbed 6-0 on aggregate and although we do not expect that result, it does point that once Wolfsberg face sterner opposition, their lack of experience really starts to tell
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – NO
We fully expect Monchengladbach to get their campaign off to the perfect start but it may be a little nervy for the opening 45 minutes for the Germans. Only one of their last four goals have come in the first half in the Bundesliga this season leaving Marco Rose’s men sometimes a little late to the party.
DRAW AT HALFTIME
A brave bet this one but also one that has every chance of paying out at good odds. Under 1.5 goals in the game has peaked our interest as Borussia Monchengladbach have only managed to score more than one goal once in their four competitive games they have played this season at the time of writing. We have already highlighted why we think they will keep a clean sheet, but a lack of goals this season opens up opportunity for us.
UNDER 1.5 GOALS
Head to Head
This will be the first ever head to head meeting between the two although this will be the 11th time the German outfit has played a team from Austria. Their record stands at six wins, one draw and three defeats from their prior ten matches.
Borussia Monchengladbach to win and keep a clean sheet
Wolfsberger have started the season off well in the Austrian Bundesliga but without doubt face the toughest test of their short campaign so far in Borussia Monchengladbach. The German outfit are no rookies in the competition and have even won it twice whilst having only conceded once in the Bundesliga at home this season – although it is early days yet but Monchengladbach should prove too much against Wolfsberg.
