The match is over.
Having never won a Champions League group stage away games, Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb know they come into the game as heavy outsiders with online betting sites as free scoring City aim to put on another impressive display.
Manchester City at home are a daunting prospect for any side and understandably the side to back with popular sportsbooks for the win. That may be obvious to say, but when you consider Zagreb have not won a Champions League away game in 12 attempts, the home win looks even more likely. Even worse for Dinamo is that despite putting four past Atalanta at home, the Croatians only managed to score in two of those 12 away games.
Considering we believe Dinamo will fail to score in the game, backing under four goals appears to make sense. The Croatian league champions have not conceded more than once in a competitive game since a Cup game all the way back in May. Although we think City may manage two or even three, we are not so sure the Citizens will manage four against a side that have already proven a tough prospect in their own right.
Manchester City have been fairly quick out of the blocks this season in all competitions having netted more goals in the first half than the second in their last three straight games. They have also done exactly the same in the Champions League dating back into the tail end of last season making this a bet that has a surprising amount of value.
Head to Head
This will be the first time the pair have ever met in UEFA competition. In fact, this will also be the first time ever that the Citizens will have faced Croatian opposition. Dinamo are also yet to win an away game in the group stages of the Champions League after 12 attempts.
City to win but under 4 goals
Few expect Dinamo Zagreb to travel to Manchester and take anything out of the game but if the match against Atalanta proves, the Croatians should not be completely written off. A clean sheet and four goals were impressive from Nenad Bjelica and the Premier League champions are advised to proceed with caution. However, there is no denying the gulf in class so expect City to come through – but it won’t be a thrashing.
