Round two of Serie A sees Champions Juventus welcome Napoli to the Allianz Stadium for what could already be a crunch game in the Scudetto race.
Napoli have been Juventus’ closest rivals over the past couple of years and both sides are set to go head to head again this term for league title. The Azzurri haven’t picked up a draw in Turin since 2011 and probably due one against the Old Lady.
GAME TO END AS A DRAW
Juventus brought in Coach Maurizio Sarri in the summer to bring an attacking football philosophy that will somehow lead them to a Champions League title, however against Parma on the weekend they didn’t look much like an all attacking side and had to rely on veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini to score the goal that gave them the three points. The recent games between these sides have been tight affairs. That could be why the bookies are offering odds of 3/4 for the Total Goals under 2.5 market, including at 10Bet.
MATCH TO END WITH LESS THAN 2.5 GOALS AT 3/4
Both these side can boast of having some considerable attacking firepower and there is usually goals in the this fixture, with just two matches out of the past eight ended with only one side scoring, while there hasn’t been a goalless draw since 1997.
BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
Napoli will want to pull a fast one against their former Coach and striker Gonzalo Higuain who both left for their hated rivals. Carlo Ancelotti won’t need to motivate his side too much for this game and they will be out for revenge for last season’s defeats despite outplaying the Old Lady while down to 10 men in both fixtures.
GAME TO END 1-1
Head to Head
These sides last met in Serie A in March in the Stadio San Paolo in Naples and the Bianconeri ran out 2-1 winners after the Azzurri had goalkeeper Alex Meret sent off in the 25th minute, while Lorenzo Insigne missed a late penalty that would have sealed a memorable come back for the Partenopei. The Old Lady take the historical head to head by winning 24 of the last 46 matches between the sides, while Napoli have managed just 12 victories, while there have been 10 draws.
The match to end in a draw
Juventus will want to take all three points in this one and put some daylight between themselves and their closest rivals heading into the international break. New Bianconeri Coach Maurizio Sarri is suffering with pneumonia at the minute and might miss the match against his old club. The former Chelsea boss was brought in to bring a more attacking philosophy to the Old Lady’s style of play and at this early point of the season they face a massive test against the Azzurri.
For Napoli, this match could potentially come at the right time as Juventus won’t have had time to be completely accustomed to Sarriball and might catch them on an off day. Coach Carlo Ancelotti should have new record signing Hirving Lozano available for this tie after his €38m move from PSV Eindhoven was finalized last week. The Partenopei will be happy enough with a draw in this game as it will keep them level on points with their rivals.
