Score: 1-2.

Match day four of Group D of this Season’s Champions League sees Juventus travel to Moscow to face Lokomotiv knowing a win would seal their progression into the knockout rounds.

Our Betting Tips

Juventus left it late to come from behind to beat Lokomotiv 2-1 in match day three of this season’s Champions League, thanks to a Paulo Dybala brace. Four points now separate the sides in Group D with the Russian club beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 away on match day one to pick up their first points of this campaign.

Juventus’ defence has conceded in each of their last five matches played between league and European competition. The Bianconeri have only kept three clean sheets in their 13 games played to date. The Italian champions have been scrapping results of late and are no longer a tough defensive unit to break down.

Juventus have been lucky to get anything out of the last five matches, needing penalty calls and late goals to beat Inter, Bologna, Lokomotiv and Genoa 2-1 in recent weeks. While they were even held by newly promoted Lecce 1-1 in Serie A.

Juventus could possibly believe a point here would be enough to keep them on track of progressing into the next round of this season’s Champions League as a trip to Moscow in November is never an easy fixture.

Head to Head

Before last week’s 2-1 win for the Bianconeri in Turin, these sides had met twice before in the 1993-1994 UEFA Cup first round. Juventus won 3-0 in the home leg before winning 1-0 in Moscow in the return fixture.

  • Lokomotiv’s 2-0 win over Galatasaray earlier in the group was their only home Champions League victory in their last five. The Moscow club have won nine of their last 23 home games in the competition going back to 2000.
  • Juventus are winless in their last four away games in the Champions League, 2-1 loss to Young Boys, a 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid, and a 1-1 draw with Ajax last term were followed up by a 2-2 draw again at Atletico Madrid earlier in this season’s group stage.
  • Lokomotiv have only lost three times in their last 20 home games played between, league, cup and European competition. A 3-0 defeat in the derby with Spartak on the weekend in the Russian Premier League and a 2-1 defeat at Rostov their only domestic away defeats this season.
  • Juventus are unbeaten on their travels this season, but have drawn three of those six away games played between league and European competition, including a 1-1 draw at Lecce last weekend.

Our Prediction for Lokomotiv Moscow vs Juventus

The match to end in a draw.

Lokomotiv have a last chance of keeping their slim chances of progressing into the knockout rounds alive here with a win against the Italian champions. The Russian could have some of their big-name players back from injury for this one to make the trip to Moscow all that harder for the Old Lady.

For Juventus, this game could see them automatically qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, however, Maurizio Sarri’s men have been struggling to play the attacking football that he was brought in to provide. Veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini is out with a long-term injury, while Gonzalo Higuain and Miralem Pjanic could make a return from their knocks.
