Fenerbahçe vs Zenit: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
The match is over.
Fenerbahce look to turn around a terrible season by knocking Zenit Saint Petersburg out of the Europa League.
Fenerbahce knew that they could afford to lose their final group match against Spartak Trnava as they had already qualified behind Dinamo Zagreb in Group D. Their campaign has been far from plain sailing however and they will need to improve if they are to get anything from this game – and the return leg in Saint Petersburg.
Zenit won their qualifying group ahead of Slavia Prague and could even lose to the Czech side in their final group match knowing they had already progressed to the round of 32. The Russian side are in the middle of their winter break at the moment though, so fatigue could be a factor in this match.
Fenerbahce had dropped as low as 17th in the Turkish SuperLig up until very recently and it is only a string of draws followed by back to back wins that has seen the Istanbul club climb back up the table. They have recruited well in the January transfer window though, so will be hoping that 2019 is a much better year for them – starting with this tie against Zenit.
Zenit were cruising in the Russian Premier League earlier in the season but then started losing a few games culminating in just one win in their last four. Sports betting sites still seems to believe that they will be too strong for Fenerbahce over two legs – but they may struggle in Istanbul allowing Fenerbahce to grab a 2-0 win.
- Fenerbahce to win
A very poor start to the season has led bookies to lengthen the odds for a Fenerbahce win but they have started turning their season around.
- Fenerbahce to win to nil
Zenit were hardly prolific during the group stage – only scoring six in their six games. An extended Russian winter break will not have helped with their preparation either so a home win to nil could be on the cards.

Head to Head
These two sides have never met before.
- Fenerbahce have struggled for form this season on all fronts and their frustration has definitely kicked in at times. Only three other sides committed more fouls in the Europa League group stage.
- Zenit have led the Russian Premier League since the first day of the season. But three defeats in their last four games have narrowed the gap between them and Krasnodar in second to just one point.
- For one of the big clubs in Turkey, Fenerbahce have been enduring one of their worst seasons in recent history. When they beat Yeni Malatyaspor at the end of January it was their first three points for two and a half months.
- Zenit won all three home games in the Europa League group stage while only conceding one goal.
