Eintracht vs Benfica: Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
The match is over.
Benfica travel to Germany knowing that they already have one foot in the semi final after their 4-2 first leg victory.
Eintracht Frankfurt were stunned in Lisbon as the hosts raced to a 4-1 lead within an hour, but their second goal gives the Bundesliga club much more hope going into the second leg. Luka Jovic will once again be the German side’s main focus of attack and he will want to add to the goal he scored in the first leg as he attempts to knock out his parent club.
Even the bookmakers were surprised at Benfica’s margin of victory in the first leg – and much of the credit has to go to teenage superstar Joao Felix. The Portugal youth international scored three and made the fourth and is sure to be closely watched by the Frankfurt defence in the second leg.
Frankfurt are enjoying one of their best seasons for quite a while as they look to qualify for the Champions League. A Europa League triumph is not entirely out of the reckoning now but coach Adi Hutter will need to get his tactics right for the visit of Benfica, as one more goal for the visitors and the tie will surely be over.
Benfica transferred into the Europa League after finishing third in a Champions League group that also contained Bayern Munich and Ajax. The betting sites did not really fancy the Portuguese club’s chances of winning the competition before the first leg – but have changed their minds now. Benfica should progress to the semi finals but Frankfurt could win the second leg 2-1.
Eintracht Frankfurt to win
Benfica know that they have a sizeable cushion going into this second leg – and all the pressure will be on Frankfurt. The Bundesliga side should win at home though.
Eintracht Frankfurt to win and both teams to score
Frankfurt has to score – and with Luka Jovic that seems likely – but Benfica know that a goal for them should kill the tie.
