Denmark vs France: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Denmark and France go head-to-head in the third and final Group C fixture for both of these nations. France are expected to win the group but the game could be more important for the Danes who are tipped to be vying for second place along with Peru and Australia.
Why Should I Bet On Denmark against France?
France and Denmark meet in Moscow to determine who tops Group C, with the Danes also needing to be sure of their place in the World Cup’s knockout stage. After two rounds of games the French sit top with six points while Denmark have four, but an Australia win over Peru would take the Socceroos to the same total. Depending on the outcome of France-Denmark, the Aussies could hop into second place.
Kylian Mbappe gave France victory over Peru and whatever the result here, Les Bleus will be in the Round of 16. Defeat to Denmark would send them through in second place but if Mbappe has found his swagger, France should make it nine points from a possible nine. It’s 13/10 at William Hill that France take the victory, with Denmark 18/5 and the draw 6/4.
Mbappe wasn’t born when France won the World Cup in 1998 but he could be the difference in 2018. A special, spark of a player, the forward is 5/1 at BetFair to score first, having settled the fixture with Peru on Thursday.
Denmark’s special player is Christian Eriksen. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder could do with a bit more quality around him – unfortunately for Denmark he can’t pass to himself – but be is 8/1 to score first and 7/2 to score anytime. Denmark’s best route to goal might well be a set-piece, delivered by Eriksen, which brings centre-back Andreas Christensen, 35/1 to score first, into the reckoning.
France thus far have beaten Australia 2-1 and Peru 1-0, and on paper Denmark are the sterner test. The Danes also beat Peru 1-0 and even though there is attacking talent in both sides – more in the French than the Danish – there might not be a lot of goals. A correct score of 1-0 to France is 5/1 at William Hill, while 1-0 to Denmark is 7/1.
Regardless of score Denmark need to win – they can’t rely on Peru beating Argentina to guarantee their second place. A draw is a fine result for France, though, and it remains to be seen if Didier Deschamps will ring the changes now his team are sure of their place.
