Chelsea vs Arsenal: Who Will Take Home the Win
It is that time of year again.
With the opening weekend of the Premier League season just around the corner, the Community Shield will act as the curtain raiser for the upcoming campaign and both Arsenal and Chelsea will be confident of victory.
Chelsea, rampant when lifting the English title last season, will face an Arsenal side looking to bounce back after a difficult year.
Antonio Conte’s men ran out comfortable winners against the Gunners in pre-season and many will expect them to win again.
The Blues have an excellent recent record against Arsenal and plenty of fans will be expecting the Blues to come out on top despite losing defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, so often a thorn in Arsenal’s side, earlier this week.
The Gunners will be expecting big things from club record signing Alexandre Lacazette this campaign and he will be desperate to make an instant impact in English football.
At Lyon, he scored 114 goals in 242 appearances and he could be Arsenal’s main man for years to come.
Arsenal paid £52 million for the Frenchman and supporters will be hoping that he can hit the ground running as the domestic season gets underway.
Both clubs are renowned for their attacking talent and punters may be tempted by the ‘both teams to score’ market at 4/7.
Chelsea had one of the best defensive records in Europe last season but the Blues have struggled to inspire confidence on tour.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have also failed in their bid to build an imposing defensive unit and goals could be on the cards.
If the Gunners grab the opener, as they did in May’s FA Cup final, this could be their day.
However, Chelsea are arguably further ahead in their preparation for the new season and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Conte’s men celebrating on Sunday evening.
