Celtic vs Salzburg : Predictions, Betting Tips & Odds
Brendan Rodgers welcomes Salzburg to Celtic Park knowing that if his side avoid defeat they will go through to the next round.
Back to back victories over RB Leipzig and Rosenborg have give Celtic a great chance of progressing to the knock out rounds of this season’s Europa League. Beating the German side in particular changed the look of Group B and now the Bhoys will be hoping that their formidable home form will see them through.
Salzburg have won every single game so far in the Europa League and have qualified with ease from a group that might have caused them some problems. It will be interesting to see if there is quite as much intensity in this one as the Austrian champions know that they are already going through as group winners.
Celtic have dominated Scottish football in recent years and have largely disappointed in Europe as they aim to prove they are one of the top sides. A good run in the Europa League would prove some of the doubters wrong but their football will have to be of the highest quality to beat a skilful Salzburg side.
Salzburg found themselves behind after just two minutes in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign – although they went on to win comfortably in the end. The Austrian side have really enjoyed this competition in the last few seasons and finishing with a 100% record would be appealing for the Austrian side – but a 2-2 draw is a more likely result.
Celtic will undoubtedly go all out for the three points but the draw sees both sides through to the next round so it is surprising that many of the UK’s betting sites are not offering shorter odds on that outcome.
- Total goals over 3.5
Salzburg have scored more goals than anyone else in the Europa League this season – and Celtic have only failed to score once in five matches – so the keepers could be busy.
