The match is over.
Time is all but up for Bulgaria’s qualifying quest whilst the Three Lions are just a step away from progresses to the Euro finals as they look to build on their World Cup last four success.
England have been enjoying a splurge of goals this qualifying campaign netting a total of 19 strikes prior to their clash with the Czech Republic. That is more than anyone else up until that point in the campaign (although joint with France). In fact, England alone are yet to score under 3.5 goals in a game making this the way to go with popular sportsbooks whilst the home side are no fools either having netted in seven of their last eight games in all competitions meaning goals galore is a likely scenario.
We like this bet as it offers value and a slight break from what people may expect. However, there is very good reason to back this. England shipped three against Kosovo and looked suspect at the back whilst Bulgaria have only failed to score against England in this qualifying campaign and have scored in each of the last six home games in the Nations League, friendlies and Euro 2020 qualifiers.
A bit of an outsider this one but one that offers great value. The Three Lions may be cruising through the qualifying groups but in the two games they have conceded in the campaign they have shipped an early goal and gone behind. Bulgaria have also scored first in two of their four qualifying campaigns in which they have scored so there is reason to back this one – just maybe don’t go too heavy in on it.
Head to Head
England will be licking their lips as the prepare to face Bulgaria even in Sofia. Eleven times the pair have met, and thirteen times Bulgaria have failed to beat the Three Lions. Gareth Southgate’s men have won seven of those ties including a 4-0 victory when the pair met in the reverse fixture a month at Wembley.
England to win by more than 2 goals
Under Gareth Southgate, England continue to impress and a game against struggling Bulgaria should be nothing more than routine. Eleven times the pair have met and in all eleven the Three Lions remain unbeaten and have not conceded a goal in their last three against Bulgaria. England have also scored nine in their last two games and eleven in their last three with Bulgaria making a comfortable England win the only way to go to extract maximum value with online betting sites for the match result.
