Brighton vs Chelsea: Predictions, Betting Tips and Odds
Chris Hughton welcomes high flying Chelsea to the Amex confident that his Brighton side can give anyone a game at home.
Brighton didn’t start the season too well – although they did have to play both Liverpool and Manchester United within the first couple of weeks. But the Albion have been fairly consistent since, playing some nice football – especially at home – and have occupied their mid table spot for the majority of the season.
Chelsea were in fine form as they beat Manchester City at Stamford Bridge and will be looking to take another three points from their trip to the south coast. Pep Guardiola’s side couldn’t handle Chelsea in the second half of that game and Brighton’s defence could have their work cut out for them here.
Brighton will have been disappointed with their defeat at the hands of Burnley as they have tended to perform well against the sides they need to beat to stay in the division. They are well clear of the relegation spots at the moment but will not want a poor run of form to start a slide.
The win over Manchester City will have lifted Maurizio Sarri’s men after their mixed set of results against Wolves, Spurs and Fulham. Brighton are well set up but if they give the West London side any space they could be in trouble. Chelsea should be too strong for the Seagulls and this could end 2-0 to the visitors.
- Chelsea to win to nil
Brighton are better at home but Chelsea have looked very impressive recently and a clean sheet could be on the cards for Kepa at the Amex.
- Chelsea to win 2-0
Chelsea will be heavily favoured by the sports betting sites to win this one so a fairly low correct score prediction could be the value bet.

Head to Head
Brighton have never beaten Chelsea in a league match in six attempts – and they were on the wrong end of a 4-0 thrashing last year at the Amex.
- Aubameyang, Salah and Kane may get all the headlines but Brighton’s Glenn Murray is right up there when it comes to Premier League goals – only those three have found the net more often.
- Eden Hazard’s goals may have dried up a little since the beginning of the season but he is still integral to Chelsea’s attacking play – he has more assists than anyone in the Premier League.
- Brighton have scored at least one goal in every single home match this season – and have only lost on the one occasion, to Spurs.
- Chelsea may have an impressive range of attacking options but their defence is just as important. Only Liverpool have kept more clean sheets in the league this season.
