Belgium vs England Predictions
World Cup winning dreams for Belgium and England died this week after each suffered heartbreak in the semi-finals.
Belgium were edged out 1-0 by France while England fell 2-1 in extra time in Croatia, despite taking an early lead in the match.
This will be the second time the teams have met in this tournament and ironically the second time when both are likely to field weakened sides.
Adnan Januzaj’s fine individual effort gave the Red Devils victory over Gareth Southgate’s side in the final Group G match last month to ensure Belgium topped the group.
Roberto Martinez’s men are favourites to once again triumph here and they are priced at 6/5 to finish their campaign on a winning note.
The pressure is off for both teams, who may now both opt to take more risks and these games are typically high-scoring. Both are likely to make personnel changes but the Belgians have more strength in depth and a 3-1 Belgium victory is a potential outcome and is priced at 16/1.
Both Teams to Score Prediction
Third-placed playoffs have a tendency for goals. In 2014, Holland defeated Brazil 3-0 while before that, Germany beat Uruguay 3-2 in 2010 and Portugal 3-1 in 2006, with Turkey edging out South Korea 3-2 16 years ago. More than 2.5 goals is available at 11/18.
England have had just six shots on target from open play in six matches and the only game in which they failed to score was against Belgium.
Belgium’s loss to France ended a 24-match unbeaten run, of which they won 19 and also brought an end to their run of seven consecutive victories.
