Switzerland vs Costa Rica Predictions
Switzerland have been excellent in Russia and deservedly sit joint-top of Group E coming into this fixture. Vladimir Petkovic’s side face arguably their easiest match against Costa Rica and will be expected to collect three points from this game. They controlled the second half against Brazil before overcoming a 1-0 deficit against Serbia. They always seen to be stronger after the break and they are likely to qualify for the round of 16 with relative ease. Costa Rica have fought admirably but they don’t have enough of a goal threat in their side. They’ve missed copious chances in their games so far and the Swiss defence is fairly robust. This should be a straightforward Swiss victory and they can be backed at 7/8 with Betfair.
Switzerland vs Costa Rica Preview
The jury was out on Switzerland pre-tournament but they’ve been great so far and they could surprise a few teams in the knock-out round. They are well-organised, hard to penetrate and they also possess a goal threat. Xherdan Shaqiri provides a spark and they should end Group E with three points here. They have conceded in both games so far but they never look flustered at the back. They also seem to better after the break, scoring all their goals in the second 45 and they may have to be patient once again. Petkovic’s side will want to improve their goal difference as they battle with top spot in this section.
Costa Rica have been entertaining to watch but they’re heading home early. They haven’t been able to replicate their success in 2014 and their lack of potent goalscorer has hit them hard. They missed numerous chances against Brazil and were fairly unlucky against Serbia and they will need to regroup ahead of the next qualifying campaign. They will hope to end with three points in Nizhny Novgorod but it looks an uphill task against a decent Swiss outfit.
Both Teams to Score Prediction
Switzerland are well-organised at the back and barely put a foot wrong in qualifying. They have conceded in both of their Group E games so far but they’ve already faced their two toughest opponents and this should be a little easier. Costa Rica lack a spark in the final third and although they possess plenty of pace and zip, they don’t have a finisher. That’s been a heavy price to pay and Both Teams to Score? No should land here at 7/10 with Betfair.
Switzerland vs Costa Rica Correct Score Prediction
This should be fairly routine for Switzerland. They may do their best work in the second half once again as they wait patiently for a breakthrough. Costa Rica are unlikely to cause a shock in this fixture and the Swiss should prevail without too many problems. A 2-0 scoreline seems a logical selection. They will not find it easy to penetrate the Costa Rican back-line but they have too much quality in their side. It can be backed at 13/2 with Bet365.

Switzerland 0-1 Costa Rica – 01/06/2010
Switzerland 2-0 Costa Rica – 05/09/2006
Xherdan Shaqiri – Whilst Granit Xhaka keeps thing ticking over nicely in the centre of the park, it is Xherdan Shaqiri who is tasked with creating opportunities for Switzerland. The Stoke playmaker was far from prolific this season but he is unlikely to be short of suitors this summer. Vladimir Petkovic’s side don’t score many goals but Shaqiri is always likely to threaten.
Keylor Navas – He significantly enhanced his reputation in 2014 with a string of wonderful saves in Brazil and he is likely to be crucial once again. He is the last line of defence and Costa Rica will need him to be at his best in Russia. He is a classy stopper who commands his area superbly and is likely to earn his side at least a point at this tournament.
