World Cup Predictions for the Final

World Cup 2022 Final

Argentina vs France

The final two teams are left standing at the 2022 World Cup with holders France taking on Argentina in Lusail. Argentina booked their place in this showpiece event after overcoming Croatia with relative ease on Tuesday night. Lionel Scaloni’s side opened the competition with a shocking defeat to Saudi Arabia, however, they have barely put a foot wrong since that day and they will be confidence of lifting the trophy on Sunday afternoon. Talisman Lionel Messi has made headlines throughout the tournament and this is likely to be his final chance to secure World Cup success. He was ably assisted by Julian Alvarez on Tuesday with the Man City striker likely to feature heavily here. La Albiceleste have developed a habit of scoring the first goal in games and they will aiming to make a fast start once again.

France have had 24 hours less to prepare for this contest and they found themselves involved in a battle with Morocco. Didier Deschamps was forced to shuffle his pack with illness reportedly making its way through the camp. Nevertheless, Les Bleus managed to score an early goal before withstanding a significant amount of pressure from their opponents. Thankfully for the holders, they were able to make attacking changes in the second half and put the game beyond the Atlas Lions. It wasn’t the most convincing performance from Deschamps’ men and it remains to be seen whether Adrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano have shaken off their ailments in order to feature in this final. France will fancy their chances of becoming the first side to clinch back-to-back titles since 1962, however, their squad is beginning to look stretched and they’ve had less time to prepare for this encounter.

World Cup Betting 🏆

Heading into the World Cup, all of the betting saw Brazil emerge as strong favourites, with many experts predicting them to win the World Cup. And it’s no surprise why; Brazil won the 2019 Copa América and have a team decorated with talent including Davi Alves, Casemiro, Gabriel Jesus, Vinícius Jr. and, of course, Neymar.

But being favourites doesn’t guarantee a win. Statistically, the favourites in World Cup betting go on to win the competition around 43% of the time. Indeed, Brazil have been favourites 10 times and failed to win on six of those occasions.

France are second in the running, followed by a well-balanced Argentina whose odds have slowly shortened for some time, coming in at 7/1 in the run-up to World Cup 2022.

England’s shaky form in the UEFA Nations League saw their odds drift ahead of their opening game against Iran, with the likes of Spain, Germany and the Netherlands not far behind based on World Cup betting odds.

How to Bet on the World Cup ❓

First of all, don’t just bet on your favourite team – that’s a recipe for disaster. Instead, take some time to sketch out how you think the tournament will proceed. Look at the group stages, decide who you think will finish first and second, and use that for more accurate World Cup predictions.

For example, England might have a relatively easy group on paper in the form of Iran, USA and Wales, followed by a decent round of 16. But if France win their group then progress – as they’re expected to – England would face them in the quarter finals, where they could well be knocked out.

Consider all aspects when making your World Cup predictions.

Betting Sites

Reading World Cup betting tips isn’t the only research required. You also need to make sure you’re getting the best odds possible.

Rather than compare hundreds of sites for each bet you wish to make, which would become very tedious, you might consider using bookies who offer consistently competitive odds. It will make your job that bit easier.

10Bet have emerged as a site with exciting odds on all World Cup betting, alongside 888sport. These are two sites who aren’t fully known to all football bettors but should be, as they consistently outshine some of the household names when it comes to World Cup predictions odds.

Bwin is a well-known betting brand, especially after many years sponsoring Real Madrid, and are always good for World Cup odds. Finally, Betfred are another UK-friendly bookie with great World Cup betting odds and a wide range of markets.

World Cup Predictions 🔮

Making good World Cup predictions isn’t as simple as guessing who will win in a group game. The smart money looks at the long-term events, including which teams are likely to make it to the final. This can help dictate the rest of your betting.

It’s not easy making World Cup predications on a bunch of teams you may rarely, or even never, see play. But you can use our well-researched World Cup predictions to give yourself a head start. You’ll find World Cup betting tips on every step of the journey including group games, knockout rounds, and outright markets.

As always, the odds of the bookies are paramount in all World Cup predictions. All World Cup betting tips at BetonSports take this into consideration, so you’ll regularly be given multiple options – the favourite, plus a few dark horses if you want longer odds.

Tournament Format

The 32 World Cup teams are divided into eight groups of four, with the top two from each group progressing to the knockout stages. From there, only one team progresses from each match until there is one left.

The pre-determined format is very important for World Cup predictions, as it helps us anticipate which World Cup teams will meet and when. For instance, if England make the final, that would be their first chance to potentially meet Brazil.

World Cup Betting Tips

Betting TipsIn your day-to-day football betting, you might be tempted to go for underdogs to boost your odds. But at the World Cup, nothing is predictable. Even strong favourites can be eliminated at the group stage, as there are only three games to qualify, meaning very little room for error.

Rather than betting on outsiders, we recommend the opposite. Because of this unpredictability, you can get fairly good odds on the world’s best teams and players to perform well. For example, you could get odds on Brazil winning at around 9/2 at the start of the tournament. And Harry Kane – the most recent World Cup Golden Boot winner – came in at 7/1 to repeat it.

Another piece of advice for all your World Cup predictions is to react quickly. The whole world is watching, and that means odds can change quickly. If you’re watching Brazil live and see Neymar get badly injured, adjust your World Cup predictions accordingly and see if a new favourite emerges.

World Cup Betting Markets

With these World Cup betting tips in mind, here are some of the most interesting World Cup betting markets – and why they might be useful to you:

  • Outright winner: Betting on the overall winner of the World Cup is a prediction you can make at any stage: pre-tournament, group stage, or even during the final itself. It’s a simple market which everyone is familiar with, and if you call it right the odds can be very rewarding.
  • Top goal scorer: The group stages are a key area for Golden Boot potential. An average of six goals is often enough to secure the top scorer accolade, so if your World Cup predictions indicate a team will dominate their group, think about betting on a Golden Boot winner within that group.
  • Golden Ball winner: Few betting markets are subjective, which is why the Golden Ball market is an interesting one. It’s also a market which rewards those of you who make the most accurate World Cup predictions, because the winners almost always make the very latter stages of the World Cup.

World Cup Betting Odds 🔢

Betting Odds World Cup betting odds work in the same way as regular betting odds. But, if you’re not familiar, here’s a quick explanation.
Fractional odds are the most common type of World Cup betting odds for UK bookies. They might look confusing but they’re very simple: you have to place the second number to win the first, in whatever currency you’re using.

So, if you bet £1 on England to win the World Cup at 7/1, you’ll win £7 profit, plus your stake of £1 back. If you bet £2, you’ll win £16 (£14 + £2 stake). If you bet 50p, you’ll win £3.50 + 50p.

It’s every important that you understand how odds work so that you can accurately compare odds for your World Cup betting predictions. When considering a World Cup betting tip, the odds can be the difference between whether or not a tip is a good one.

For example, let’s say Neymar has odds of 2/1 to win the Golden Ball and he does. Even though it’s a correct tip, that would be a poor shout because the odds were not fair when considering the accomplishment.

If, on the other hand, Neymar had odds of 100/1, he would be grossly overpriced and this would be a good tip – even if he didn’t go on to win it!

Getting good value odds on your World Cup predictions is vitally important and a win in itself. If you can pick winning World Cup tips and also find great odds for them, that’s the dream combination.

World Cup Statistics and History

Looking at previous World Cup results and statistics doesn’t just make for interesting reading – it can also help us make more accurate World Cup predictions for future competitions.

In order to bring you the most accurate World Cup tips, here’s a succinct history of some important World Cup facts from years gone by.

World Cup History

Looking for patterns in previous World Cups can help you predict what might happen at tournaments such as World Cup 2022. For example, Brazil have played in every World Cup finals to date. That means the country has a huge fountain of experience to draw from, and should always be high in confidence. This can play a huge role in players’ performances.

There is also history between certain sides, sometimes stemming from political roots. For instance, England invaded the Falklands in 1982 in what many saw as an unjust war. This helped spark a fierce rivalry on the pitch.

Four years later, when England and Argentina met in the World Cup, Maradona scored the infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal. Games between these two sides are always fiery – see David Beckham’s red card in 1998 – and so this should factor into your World Cup predictions when teams with big rivalries are drawn against one another.

Players and Teams

The World Cup is the biggest tournament in football, and certain players place a huge emphasis on personal glory. Cristiano Ronaldo is one such example, always looking to add to his list of records, accolades and trophies. With his rival Lionel Messi already having a Golden Ball to his name, and Ronaldo entering what is likely his final or perhaps penultimate World Cup, he’ll be desperate to win one himself.
