Previewing This Weekend’s Best Premier League Games (March 3-4)

Premier League Week 2

Both Southampton and Stoke find themselves fully embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle and the pair meet at St. Mary’s on March 3rd. The Saints have been poor this season under Mauricio Pellegrino and the former Alaves boss remains under pressure on the South Coast. They’ve won just three times at home all season and it is essential that they pick up something against their struggling opponents. Manolo Gabbiadini getting on the score-sheet and an encouraging debut from Josh Sims provided a couple of positives for Saints fans last week and they’ll be aiming to build upon the point they collected at Burnley. Sportingbet offer a best price of 7/9 on a Southampton win but Stoke have become difficult to beat under Paul Lambert and could get something from the game. The draw is available at 13/5.

Manchester City have been priced up as short favourites against Chelsea when the pair meet on March 4th. Pep’s side have been completely dominant this season and can be backed at 3/5 against an out-of-form Chelsea side. The Blues lost at Old Trafford on February 25th and Antonio Conte’s side are lacking an out-and-out striker to compliment the industry of Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard. The latter is 11/4 with Betfair to score during the 90 minutes.

Manchester United May Take Time to Break Down Crystal Palace

Injury-hit Crystal Palace almost held on for a draw against Spurs on February 25th but Harry Kane’s strike two minutes from time helped Mauricio Pochettino’s side pick up all three points. Wilfried Zaha has stepped up his recovery but won’t be back in time for this clash with Manchester United and Roy Hodgson remains short of options in the final third. The visitors start as 4/7 favourites for this clash but could find it difficult to break their resilient hosts down. Manchester City failed to score here whilst Chelsea, Stoke, Watford and Burnley have all left South London with nothing to show for it this season.
