Manchester United vs Liverpool: Premier League Preview

qatar wc 2022

One of the biggest Premier League matches of the season takes place on March 10, as Manchester United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford. The hosts are currently two points ahead of their North West neighbours with both clubs eyeing up second spot. Jose Mourinho’s side left it late against Crystal Palace with a stunning Nemanja Matic strike swinging the game in United’s favour in added time. The Portuguese boss threw on Luke Shaw and Juan Mata in the second half and the pair helped change the game. They found themselves 2-1 down at the break and they must improve at the back against free-scoring Liverpool.

The pair drew 0-0 when they met on October 14, with the Red Devils stifling Liverpool’s creativity throughout. Sportingbet have priced the draw at 23/10, with many fans expecting the pair to cancel one another out for the second successive meeting. The hosts start as the 17/11 favourites but the visitors have been in excellent form and have a tremendous record against top six sides in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp chose to rest Virgil Van Dijk and Mo Salah in midweek as his side easily progressed to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The pair are likely to return to the starting line-up for this crucial encounter. The latter has 24 Premier League goals so far this season and is 24/13 with 888Sport to find the back of the net once again.

Lukaku Has Re-Discovered His Shooting Boots

Romelu Lukaku is always popular in the goalscoring market and the big Belgian is 5/1 to grab the opening goal of the game. He fluffed his lines in the reverse fixture but his recent return to form suggests that he should be backed to make amends for that miss. After netting in 12 of his first 13 games, the goals have dried up for the 75m signing but he has netted four times in his last four outings and is likely to trouble the Liverpool back-line once again.
