Liverpool Aiming to Avoid a Slip-Up at Turf Moor
Burnley have frustrated many top sides this season and Sean Dyche’s side come into this Premier League match sitting just outside the top six. They have got their fair share of injury problems with the likes of Robbie Brady, Chris Wood and Tom Heaton all currently sidelined. They may have prevented Manchester United from taking all three points on Boxing Day but they face a stiff challenge once again on January 1st as they aim to stop free-scoring Liverpool from taking all three points back to Merseyside.
The Clarets conceded just 17 times in their first 20 Premier League matches and have been defeated on just five occasions. Dyche’s side are tough to break down, they are organised, stubborn and Liverpool may have to be patient during their visit to East Lancashire.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have impressed on the road this season although they demolished Swansea at Anfield on December 26th proving that they can replicate that form in front of their own fans. The German was beaming after the final whistle as he watched his side tear apart the struggling Welsh side and he will be hoping for a similar level of ruthlessness once again.
The Reds have won five of their ten games on the road and netted 27 times in the process and will be hoping the movement of Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah can undo Burnley’s solid resistance.
The latter is 15/13 with Ladbrokes to find the back of the net during the 90 minutes. The Egyptian has been in majestic form this season with 15 goals but now finds himself three goals behind the Premier League’s leading goalscorer Harry Kane.
