Juventus vs Bologna Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Dominant Juventus host struggling Bologna in Serie A’s fifth round of 2018-19 fixtures, as Pippo Inzaghi returns to one of his old clubs.
Juventus host Bologna on their road to an eighth straight Serie A title, with the visitors led by former Old Lady striker Pippo Inzaghi but not having made the best start to the season.
Bologna’s early form has been such that there were rumours Inzaghi’s position was under threat after their opening three games yielded a single point and no goals. A meeting was reportedly held between Inzaghi and CEO Claudio Fenucci at which Fenucci assured Inzaghi his job wasn’t in the balance, and in a roundabout way it might be for the best for Inzaghi to be facing Juve now.
Nothing is expected of Bologna in Turin so anything other than a comprehensive defeat will be a relative success, and having had to face Inter, Roma and now Juve in quick succession, there’s a run of winnable games waiting for the Rossoblu. Inzaghi, only appointed in June, deserves the chance to stay on too.
Juventus, meanwhile, have made their customary strong start and Cristiano Ronaldo is even off the mark after his summer move from Real Madrid. Max Allegri might look to rotate his squad considering this is a midweek fixture and the Champions League is back on the calendar but with the Portuguese banned from European action after his red card at Valencia, he should feature. Plus, Ronaldo hates being rested and it’s in Allegri’s interest to keep the star man happy.
With or without Ronaldo this should be a straightforward Juventus win. The champions have too much strength and too much strength in depth to be caught out here, and an emphatic win – 4-0 – is on the cards.
Ronaldo, Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala and Federico Bernardeschi make up Juve’s attacking options, plus there’s always the chance of goals from elsewhere. They should get at least three, if not more here.
A score line of 4-0 looks on the cards but as a bit of cover, Juve to win by four or more stands out. With the attacking talent at hand, and Bologna’s early season struggles, it could be a rout.

Juventus – without Ronaldo – put three goals past Bologna in both of last season’s meetings, 3-1 in Turin in May and 3-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Arra in December.
You have to go back to February 2016 for the last time Bologna got so much as a draw – 0-0 at home – and February 2011 for the last Bologna win, thanks to a Marco Di Vaio double at the old Stadio Olimpico.
- Bologna have only beaten Juve twice – once at home and once away – with the home winning coming in November 1998.
