Inter Milan vs Tottenham: Predictions, Odds and Betting Tips
Inter welcome Spurs to the San Siro as they kick off their first Champions League fixture in six years.
Facing restrictions due to financial fair play regulations, Inter were still able to bring in some impressive names in the summer to bolster their squad ahead of a long awaited Champions League campaign. Radja Nainggolan from Roma was the big close season signing but Keita Balde will cause the Spurs defence some problems along with established stars such as Mauro Icardi.
Spurs were criticised for not bringing in any new players before the end of the transfer window but started the season brightly with three wins in their first three games. The London club have once again been drawn into a tough Champions League group but will look to last season’s experience for inspiration where they finished top of an equally tricky group.
Coming out of pot four in the Champions League draw, Inter were always going to be the last team anyone wanted to complete their group. A less than steady start to the Serie A campaign has taken some by surprise but the squad is a perfect mix of youth and experience and may be able to cause a few upsets.
Tottenham will once again play their home group matches at Wembley Stadium, as the new White Hart Lane stadium has not been completed on time. Mauricio Pochettino’s men definitely buried the so-called Wembley curse last season – not dropping a point in the group stage – and will be equally confident of picking up points away from home. This one has the makings of an even game that will end 1-1.
Both these sides will be realistically thinking that they can finish behind Barcelona to qualify for the next round and will be wary of losing the first match. Inter will play it tight but want the three points but Spurs have the talent to pick up a draw in the San Siro.
Spurs will believe that they can get something out of this game and if anyone scores for the north London side it is likely to be the talismanic Harry Kane.

Head to Head
These sides have only met four times before in European competition with the home side winning on each occasion. The most memorable game was in 2010 when Gareth Bale announced himself to the world, scoring a hat trick at the San Siro as his side lost a seven-goal thriller.
- Spurs scored 15 goals in their six group stage matches last season as they topped a group that included Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
- The last time Inter competed in the Champions League they topped their group before going out on the away goals rule to Marseille in the round of 16.
- Always the subject of transfer speculation, Inter captain Mauro Icardi is now in his sixth season at the San Siro and is a huge favourite of the home fans. His 29 goals in the league last season was a major reason for his side’s Champions League qualification.
- This is Tottenham’s third consecutive season in the Champions League but they haven’t advanced past the round of 16 since 2011.
